This is craziness, there is a litter of merle mantle pups at the Walker County shelter in north GA. I am going to do my best to get as many of them as possible (since I am crazy dog rescue lady). I found someone who can take two of them... there are 7 total as far as I know...
Anyone want a little baby Dane?

I don't undertand this. Surely the dane dumper would at least be greedy enough to sell them?! I don't understand...c an you explain this to me?

Mel wants one of the pups really bad. I'm thinking if you sent her some more info or a pic, she would fall right over the resistance cliff...I'll pay for transport ;)

Yeah I'm not sure why the Dane dumper didn't try to sell them... maybe they have a few other litters of Dane puppies too... I haven't gotten ahold of anyone at the shelter yet for details. But I am ON THIS!!!! :D And luckily my other half is really getting my recue bug too so he's my new partner in crime! YAY! :D

I'm in Southeast Kansas and can help with transport definitely if needed. But I can't adopt one. Sure wish I could!

I don't know the adoption fee yet and it is driving me crazy! LOL I can't find a website on this shelter or anything! Maybe someone can help with that? Anyone really good at the internet? :-\

Meanwhile... look who I found down at metro animal control 5 minutes from me!!!! :'( It never ends!!! This one they have listed as a Dane mix... poor little baby looks so sad!!!

Where in North Georgia is this?
Chickamauga is about 120 miles north of Atlanta going up I-75 almost on the Tennessee border. Actually, it is only about 15 miles outside of Chattanooga.
I can't take another dog right now, but I might be able to help with transport if someone south of ATL is tempted.

The latest is... nothing to report. But the PLAN is... to call them first thing tomorrow morning, see how many puppies are left who need to get out of there, and tell them we are stopping through on Tuesday morning to pick up as many of them as possible!!! Two boys already have homes lined up... I am actually not sure how many boys and girls there are, so hopefully there will be two boys!!! I have got foster homes ready and I think these pups are going to be just fine. I will keep you guys posted with all new information as it comes in!!!!! I can't wait for the details myself!!!!! :D
Oh and if there happens to be a deaf one I think my boyfriend is claiming that one... like we need another dog... ::) ;) :D

UPDATE.
I just called the shelter. The good news is, all the puppies have been adopted. :D The bad news is, all the puppies have been adopted! :'(
I am trying to be happy for those pups, but I wanted to help them out!!! And I already had found homes for so many of them! :-[ I'm going to pout now. This has happened to me before, and it is always a big disappointment when you wanted so bad to help a dog but you don't get to. I am just trying to keep in mind that I will be there for the next dogs... and maybe the next *litter*...? ::) ;D
Now let's ALL KEEP OUR FINGERS CROSSED that very soon, another beautiful healthy little Dane baby, a little boy, will be in need of a home so that we can help him out and he can be... MEL'S NEW DOGGIE!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Oh, I am so sad now. Knowing how Mel will feel when she reads this. Mel, remember THIS WASN'T YOUR PUPPER! They were interloper fake out pups whose plot was to steal YOUR pupper's spot! YOUR pup is waiting for you RIGHT now, maybe in a mama tummy, maybe tied to a pole somewhere. Maybe at the foot of it's current Mama who is moving into an apartment and can't keep the little angel!
My bet is that these pups weren't even real pups. They were posers. They were stuffed animals used to lure adopters to the shelter. They didn't look real to me at all.
This is YOUR puppy's happiest day!

Awwww...Dang it Mel when I read this thread I got all excited. If you happen to find another Dane around the ATL area, let me know asap as I will be heading your way the 10th of Aug and would TOTALLY transport for you!!!!
