we went to the vet and he took off the bandages. i now have the one leg that was drained wrapped in a tensor bandage for compressioon and protection (there is gel in it) so we will see how that goes. already he is noticibly better. he ate a full bowl of food and got up early for his morning poop(when hes in pain i have to force him out to go) i took his cone off and hes much happier now....he got a new bed hes rather pleased with as well.

thanks guys.

it is morning now and both elbow bandages are now around his ankles. his elbow is swollen again pretty big. i am waiting for the vet to open so i can take him back.

yea i wont be going back to that vet. which sucks because there are three vets in my town and one i already wont go to, and the other i not taking new patients. and now this, so looks like i have no vet...damn small towns.

he wasnt given any kind of anti biotics...he was given dermaxx(think thats what its called) and they only gave me that cuz i asked. they were going to give me metacam but we already had that and it did nothing. so a 100 dollar bottle of deramaxx is what i got.

also....it is midnight now, and decker is still not sleeping, and he is usually passed out long ago. i am worried sick about him, that i may have caused him more pain by letting the vet drain his elbows. he is just laying on his bed panting....he wont go to sleep and that is very very unlike him. he love to sleep.  i am going to take him back to the vet asap tomorrow and get his leg redressed(and they had better not charge me for it...he chewed off the other bandage and it was 60 bucks to get it back on....he didnt chew this one, it just was not tight enough and it fell down) i am so worried about him i have a stomache ache, but just being able to write this down has helped alot. :(

and sorry for any spelling mistakes, im posting from my phone and they keyboard on it is sooo small!!

hey guys,

well my saint, decker, who is 1 has developed a hygroma on his front left elbow. its been a few months now....he goes from being fine to limping and not playing for a few days to being fine again. i took him to our regular vet and he said he had no idea what it was (that didnt stop him from charging us 300 bucks for xrays and meds tho). i am on vacation right now in the city and thought id take decker in to a vet here to see if he could help us. well the vet drained the hygroma and bandaged it up. the bandaged has slipped down and it is no longer covering the shaved area...and i can already see that it is swelling again.

anyone else going through hygromas? i am so worried that i have caused him more pain by letting the doctor drain it. he is resting now...hs got a cone on so he wont chew. i am just so scared that he wont recover right or that it will come back.....ahhhh, dogs, so stressfull!! aslo, whats your opinion on doglegz? i just saw the site today....and wondering if it would be worth it

Behavior, Housebreaking, Obedience / Drywall Digger!!
« on: April 10, 2008, 10:16:17 pm »
Decker is digging holes...IN MY DRYWALL >:(

Anyone else's dog do this?! I cant figure out why he does this. He gets lots of exercise, has tonnes of toys to play with but he still insists in digging in the walls. There are 3 big holes and my entire hallway is pretty much gone. I dont know what to do, but my new house is looking pretty dumpy now.... :'(

thanks everyone.

Well I am going to (for now) put Decker in the basement bedroom (the one that needs new drywall anyway) until my husband gets home....I forgot that lifting heavy things is a no-no after my surgery, so I'll need him to lift all the wood and stuff inside.

23
Thats what I was thinking. But should I put him and Mack in a "enclosure" together? I was thinking of making something like the "puppy palace" that (i believe) a lucky puppy named Rucky has. Mack has never ever done anything like this, so is it wrong to crate him up to?

I think I can fix the drywall tho, so thats good...cause handymen cost lots of money lol

Literally.

Decker has eaten/chewed/pawed/clawed 3 holes in the walls of our new house. Anyone ever had a dog do this?! I dont know what to do about it?! Him and Mack get run of the house when I am away....and I know for a fact it is Decker doing it because I checked his mouth and Macks mouth and Decker had drywall in his. My husband comes home on the 2nd and he is going to flip. I'm afraid he will tell me I have to get rid of Decker. Does anyone have any tips on dealing with this? I think he gets seperation anxiety but  I dont know what to do because I cant be home 24/7.....Heres some pics of 2 of the 3 holes (the third one is about twice the size of the one on the green wall....its in my bootroom and the light burnt out in there so i cant take a pic)

Hi everyone,
I just want to start out by saying thanks to everyone for the awesome Christmas cards!!! I love them all!! And for those of you who are wondering where mine are....they are coming i swear!!

I had an attack of the gall bladder (i didn't even know there were such things) and had to have emergency surgery to remove the whole thing! Today I am able to get up and about, and I have put all the stamps on the cards and they will be mailed tomorrow!!

Good grief, something always happens around this time...last year i broke my arm and now this. Yikes, if it weren't for bad luck id have no luck at all.

Take care guys

If she is pregnant they are calling the owners, though nothing can be none they are going to inform them of it since they allowed their dog to run loose thus resulting in a litter of puppies.

I don't mean this to be rude at all....but when you have a female dog (not you personally, but your sister I guess) isn't it your responsibility to make sure that she can't be accessed by a male dog during her heat? Sometimes the males aren't out running around...they are miles and miles away, in a pen...but the scent gets them and drives them nuts and they break out.

Anyway, I hope if she if pregnant, that you find good homes for all the babies, I'm sure they will be too cute!

Medical Conditions & Diseases / Re: My boys are sick :(
« on: December 01, 2007, 10:31:43 pm »
Well we (Just Decker and I) went to the vet yesterday (the vet told me to only bring one of them in....if ones got it the other one does too)

They did a skin scrape on his big big hotspot(right above one of his back paws) and didn't see anything, but all the sympotoms point to sarcoptic mange, so they treated decker with revolution and gave him some anti-biotics for his big spot. They also gave me some revolution to give to Mack. So we will see how this goes, god i hope it fixes them!!!

I am washing all their bedding, and mine today....i am SO glad hubby decided to be a sweetheart and buy me a new washer/dryer set last weekend....the one we got ads a charge to the water that is supposed to kill any mites/bugs/creepy crawlies.....s o thats good, cause i just bought 3 new beds for the boys and we can't afford to throw them out!!
