I have always wondered what the hidden thing was about. I don't even know how someone makes themselves hidden, let alone why you would really care to do it...

there are many reasons people prefer to be hidden and they should be respected for it.

I think that you would be hidden if you didn't register when requested at the top of the page. It could be an oversight  rather than a deliberate choice. Or not.

ok, someone in the other thread about hidden users figured it out. apparently in your profile, under account settings (i think) there is a checkbox to say 'show users my online status'. if you uncheck it, you will be hidden
