« on: January 09, 2009, 08:10:11 pm »
After 24 hours of waiting and then driving 1 1/2 hours to go to the vet for a c-section they are finally here.  Amy had 4 puppies on 01/09/09.  There are 3 girls and 1 boy.  Mom is doing fine, and pups are too.
Here are a few newborn pup pics, enjoy....

Sorry to my SS person that I had to buy for, if you haven't gotten a gift it was probably me!  Family crisis have kept me from getting things out on time. The present is on the way or maybe it is there already. We have gotten our gifts from our SS but haven't has the time to get the dogs to open them yet. Sorry.
My cards are all addressed too, but are still on the desk in the office, the plan on having a picture taken was a wash, it was a pipe dream to think that it was going to happen at all with 6 dogs, and 3 of them being pups still, well ,kinda pups.
I am still planning on getting the cards out, so everyone will likely get them in the new year.
Merry Christmas!!!!

The breeder gave us the description that in Latvian language it means "amber"  which is the color he will likely turn out to be as an adult.

Well we got our new baby home and he's everything that we hoped for.  We decided to not change his name after all, so he will be called Gintaro.
He knows his name and follows you everywhere.  He isn't quite used to his crate for sleeping yet, but I didn't trust him to be left out with all the big dogs.  He isn't scared of them at all.  Amy doesn't like him yet, she runs away whenever he goes near her.
Joy and Sara like him, and Desa is submissive to him.
All is good so far.
Brad lost his luggage at the airport, or it didn't get to Calgary airport, but that is minor, it could of been the dog that was lost.
But our camera was in the bag, so no pictures until I get my camera.
Sorry so long.
There is one picture from Poland that I will post,

This particular breeder has fantastic lines.  She has been breeding for 40 years+
We wanted something that no one over here had yet, and getting a boy will help us out in the breeding department too, then we won't have to go and get imported semen or take our dogs too far for the next few breedings.  Well we can't breed until hes older but we are making plans.

Brad is, as we speak, in Poland getting another wolfhound.
The new dudes name will be Gibbs.  He is 10.5 weeks old and they fly home on Monday the 24th.
I can't wait to see him, well both him and Brad.
Here is a pic of the new guy.

Newfoundland Discussions / Re: Gander the Newfoundland, a hero

This happened in 1941, and he didn't get recognized until 2000.  It's amazing that a dog would actually do that, to grab a grenade and know to run away from your own people and then die for it, I wonder what he was thinking when he did this brave act.  How many people would sacrifice themselves for others?

If you haven't heard the story about Gander the Newfoundland, well here it is.  It is a story about his heroic events that lead up to his demise.

Our newf has been invited to participate at the Remembrance Day ceremonies, walking with the color party, and we will read the story about Gander.
