: My adopted PYR
: Big Syl February 16, 2007, 12:30:56 AM
I have a color question.

I am now wondering if my new adoptee is a full-blooded PYR. He isn't white all over, or even mostly white on his outer coat.

Since I adopted him, I just can't be sure. But he's a creamy color down his back with a lot of white growing in next to his skin. Does this mean he'll grow up to be whiter with age. Or is it just from being tied outside for a year-and-a half !! Or is he half, something else besides PYR.

His nose isn't jet black, but a little reddish, and he has red eyelashes !!

Still he's cute, has a great personality and is smart. He measures 25 inches at the withers and I'd estimate that he 's a little over a year. Is that a clue to anyone about what kind of dog he is.

Honestly, I don't care if he's full-blooded. He's been neutered and we love him. I am only curious, because I'm trying to learn about this dog and it might help if I understood his breed.

I wish I knew if he were a PYR or what else he could be.

Are there any sure-shot signs?

Congrats on your new Pyr!  I have a 1 and 1/2 y/o Pyr, Binky.  She has very light lemon markings on her face and gray on her ears.  When she was a puppy, she had a full, dark eye patch, so their color does tend to fade with age.  Also, she has the most beautiful eyelashes!  So your guy definitely sounds Pyr-like.  Pictures would be great!

I have 3 Pyrs and a Mareema. ( we thought that she was a Pyr) All 3 of my Pyrs have markings on thier faces and Zoey has some coloring on her back. I am hoping to post pics as soon as I can get my computer back and running the way it needs to be= and then you can see my crew. The Mareema doesnt have the double dew claws, she is solid white, and her coat is not as dense as the Pyrs.

Hi Big Syl! Your Puppers is absolutly beatuiful!I know you're going to love the daylights outa' him! He may be a pure Pyr. Or he may be part Pyr. But it seems that he's Pyr in heart.

I've had fosters in the past who had the double dew claws yet looked more like the other breed in their background. And I have also had fosters who looked like a Pyr yet didn't have the double dews.

You did GOOD in the rescue of this fine fellow. He's beautiful! Just Beautiful!

He is lovely! And I look forward to many more pictures. :D
