I very unexpectedly became a Big Paw Mom last night and have been researching and reading all I can about the Great Pyrenees breed.
I'm hoping to meet others with experience with the breed, in hopes of learning about my new guy and finding out how well his lifestyle and mine can mesh into a positive experience.

First we need pics- thats a must and two, tell us how you became a new parent to a Pyr. There has been an ongoing thread on this site about Pyrs. Its been going for days now and has a lot of info, but please feel free to ask any questions you want, someone on the board is probably going to have the answer.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! Look at the fuzzy face. We are all chronically in Puppy Fever here.
Is that a boyu or a girl and what's your pup's name...where are you from...what do you do...what funny puppy games and stories do you have to tell about???? so many questions.

I haven't had a chance to name him, or do anything other than give him a bath and get him settled in a little bit.
Last night on my way home from the river I stopped at the gas station by my house and one of the girls there said she had something to show me.
Back in their dumpster area were 2 puppies, both alike. I asked where they came from and she said noone knew, but they had been there or about an hour and a half. She said there had been 3 but she was able to get a customer to take one.
She said her husband was coming up to see if he'd let her keep them. I stuck around for a while. He liked one but refused to take two.
By default, I ended up bringing this guy home. He was filthy and flea infested. I bathed him twice and he could still use another good scrubbing.

LOL - all puppy, and my poor carpet is ALREADY cringing with shame. It doesnt make things easier since it is pouring today, and the little squirt absolutely wants no part of going outside.

While it may look like an overbite, the more I look at him, the more I think the bottom jaw is actually too short.

What a great story as to how you got the little guy, he is sooooo adorable! Definitely needs a special name.

BP Beautiful Pup,sounds good to me,but I am sure he will name him/herself,They usually do.
Ask anything you want everyone here has a variety of big paws and little paws and somewhere inbewteen.
Perfection exists in the eye of the beholder,and considering the condition he was in when you found eachother,a heart connection must have been made.

NOT BP!!!
BP (British Petroleum) is the big nasty oil company that was trying hard to dump junk into Lake Michigan. They've backed off of that, but still have the permit in their posession. They're not to be trusted and I think that you shouldn't name your dog after such a company!!!!
Not that there are really any socially conscious oil companies. I like something a bit more generic like Diesel.

This is a great site and you will get more info on Pyrs than you could ever imagine. This is a great bunch of people who never get tired of hearing about your pup - the good, so we can celebrate with you, and the bad, so we can thank goodness it wasn't our dog who was bad! LOL!

Hi, Just wanted to tell you that most pyr's do have an underbite. His bottom jaw will grow to catch up to the top. No worries! Congrats on your new furry baby and bless you for taking the little guy. He IS a cutie for sure!
