What's your guess as to what mix this dog is?
« on: April 12, 2006, 01:28:30 pm »
Hi there-
I haven't posted much as I've been busy searching for the 'perfect' dog and I think I may have found her.
I'm curious to get your input as to what kind of mix you think she is.  The rescue society where she is currently says she's ~3m old, weighs about 25lb (but she's thin), and says her coat appears to be non-shedding which would suggest standard poodle.
When I first saw that tongue- I instantly thought Newf.  What do you all think?
Thanks in advance  ;)

She looks standard poodle-ish to me.  She may be one of those "designer" mixed poo breeds that many people buy on impulse and then give up.

She has a bit of a Lab/Poodle mix look about her to me.

Going on just the shape of the body, b/c I can't see the head very well, I would have to agree with the poodle mix comment.

The others may be right but she looks to me she could be a Portugese Water Dog. There's one @ our local dog park that looks just like your pic.

We have a home visit tonight and then if all goes well, this is the tricky part as we ned to fence in one side of our yard-we might get to meet her tomorrow.
Thanks again!

They will be going into resuce alot because the doodle fad seems to be slowing down.

I agree with this and it's sad... but I have to say I laughed outloud when I read, "...the doodle fad seems to be slowing down." Calling it the doodle fad just cracked me up.

That said, I have no idea. I would guess a poodle mix, but I've never seen a PWD. I did meet a curly haired retriever last night that was very poodle-looking (and a cute Leonberger who's mom was suprised I could identify him). LOL

It could just be the way the hair looks in the pic, but I don't think it looks much like a PWD.  I also think it's nose is too pointy for that breed.  As far as I know PWD's aren't larger than standard poodles, at least not the one's that I've seen.  ;)  Besides, I would have to go with the more commenly dog seen in shelters, and that would be your poodle type.  :)

whatever she is, she is adorable.  Let us know how it turns out.
