Geek Love (twisted, some people may not like it)
Blindness (similar to animal farm and 1984) (Jose Saramago)
Case Histories (I just started it last night, it's phenomenal) (Kate Atkinson)
The Time Traveler's Wife (Audrey Niffenegger)
Diary (Chuck Palahniuk) (same guy that did 'Fight Club' so it's likely weird)
The Things They Carried (O'Brien) (about vietnam, likely a tear jerker, but supposed to be wonderful)
come on board BPO'ers!Â
I've read Geek Love and Diary and loved them both, so I'd be up for discussing either. Actually, anything by Palahniuk would be right up my alley lol! I also just finished the last Stephanie Plum novel, Twelve Sharp, by Janet Evanovich.
In my 'to read' pile at home:
Nickel and Dimed, by Brbara Ehrenreich
The Year of Magical Thinking, by Joan Didion
The Omnivore's Dilemma, by Michael Pollan
The last three are non-fiction, so they might not be interesting to anyone, but I thought I'd throw them out just in case. I'm a book FREAK!!!
Jenn, ROFL I have NEVER met anyone before who loved 'Geek Love'. A little tid bit about that story that you might find interesting. You know how it's totally twisted and depraved? I have a dear friend who is an English Prof. who met the author at some kind of writing seminar; they ended up having lunch. He said she was oddly normal. How weird is that? She was like a kindergarten teacher, is how he described her; which I found fascinating. You read that book and you KNOW she is a FREAK, but then you meet her, and...she is so normal. I LOVE that. I love people like that...hmmm what does that say about me?
I read Nickel and Dimed and it was GREAT
