Is there a PUPPY MILL LIST anywhere?
« on: September 03, 2005, 01:51:57 pm »
???  Is there a list one can find to research puppy mills?  If someone wants to find out if the breeder they are getting a puppy from is actually from a puppy mill, can you type in a website and look up the breeder?  A friend of mine bought a puppy at Petland, BEFORE, contacting anyone about the breeder.  She went home, tried to find the breeder online and by the registration papers and couldn't.  It's a cocker spaniel and she wanted to find out if it had any dominant health problems in the line (she should have done this BEFORE buying from a pet store and not a reputable breeder.

I don't know if there is a list anywhere, but I will say that if you get it frpom a pet store there is a 99% chance it's from a puppy mill.

If I'm not mistaken all Petland puppies come from Hunte Corp. breeders (mills). The website www.nopuppymil ls.com has a way you can research where the dog came from. Since all breeders dealing with pet stores must be USDA lic its not to hard to track.

Nice thought but,
be aware of law suits.  You start listing folks as puppy millers or bad breeders, someone is going to get sued.  More than likely the board allowing it.

As good of an idea that it is, there really isn't a need.

A list of all USDA breeders and brokers is already available on many sites. To me having a USDA #  speaks volumes of the type of breeder the person is, any further information is mute.
