K...I'm always like "it's just routine...no need to panic" on the surface but yup, I'm nervous as heck!!!
That is compounded because Pyrs are extra sensitive to anesthesia & I am not taking her & it's not my vet. :-\ ...I did send the director of the shelter an article on Anesthesia with Great Pyrs & she said she would print it out & take it to the vet & discuss my concerns with him but I can't wait to get the e-mail saying she is back at the shelter & o.k.!
Can you guys send some good thoughts or prayers Sheba's way today please?...I really would appreciate it & I do believe in the prayer power of BPO!!
I will let ya's know when she is back safe & sound at the shelter...WE GET HER IN 3 MORE DAYS & I AM REALLY REALLY GETTING EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't KNOW that what I'm saying is true in this case, but I would bet that Prys being sensitive to anesthesia means that while with other breeds one in 500 reacts badly to anesthesia, in Prys, it's like one in 200 or something. Technically your odds are two and half times greater of Sheba having a problem than a non Pry, so that is what people talk about, but really, the high odds are that NOTHING will go wrong.
They do this to older women who want to get pregant. "you're 40, you have 1000 times more chances of having a mentally retarded (or whatever condition is being exagerated) child than someone who is 20"
BTW for any BPO'rs on the board, if you are older and trying to conceive or you are pregnant and some insensitive tardlet says this to you, tell them that you have a 100 million times more chance of providing a stable healthy home than a 20 year old (it isn't statistically accurate but people don't usually care about that anyway)

LOL Sheba looks a bit on the puppy side. We can commiserate on the lack of sleep when she comes home! (I can't really blame Gossy, I had insomnia before she got here).

Sheba will be a Pyrfect angel ;D & she will sleep all night & always potty outside & never ever chew things she shouldn't & be docile & sweet & smart & she will keep Sam & Pippin in line for me & pick up her toys & put them away when she is done & never ever ever drool or shed to an excess & she will always be obedient!!!! :D :D :D...LOL!...Well, a mom can dream can't she???...lol!
The insomnia...I go through that at times & it is he**!!...Most of the time I don't have trouble going to sleep...it's staying asleep...Right now I am sleeping fairly well at night...It seems to go in spurts...Have you had a sleep study done?...I hear they can help alot!!

I Just got an e-mail from the shelter director saying "Sheba is through her operation-I have other news to tell you-Please call me on my cell after 7" with her cell number...WHAT NEWS DAMNIT?????...I actually feel sick...What if it is bad news?...What if we can't have her for some reason?...I seriously feel like vomiting. :-\ :-\ :( ...& I can't call for 43 more minutes :-\ :-\ :-\ ...K guys...good thoughts...goo d thoughts...goo d thoughts sent my way please!!!!!!!!!

Sheba is fine...she's good...she sends her love!!! ;D....All is fine!...The director just wanted to tell me that she travels well & that she got to spend time with Sheba today & she "is the sweetest, friendliest, most layed back 5 month old puppy I've ever met"! ;D ;D ;D...Honestly though, I don't think that was the reason...She spent a bunch of time explaining her situation to me & apologizing for being short with me a couple of times...She said she started as director there 21 months ago &, though she is allowed vacation time & sick leave every year, she has been away from the shelter 3 days total...one of them being X-mas...The shelter had been run into the ground by the previous director & board of directors & she has gotten it back up to par but not without sacrifices to her own life & home situation..She is now in the process of getting ready for a 2 week vacation & is trying to make sure everyone can stand on their own there & keep things going correctly so, needless to say, she's been stressed...I felt bad for her & assured her I understand & that she probably gets calls often from people saying hold the dog I'll be there & then never shows up!
She also mentioned that Sheba is very sought after...She's had a ton of calls & e-mails & someone from S. Iowa even called her at home last night!...I told ehr when I origionally talked to her that Sheba would get snatched up if she wouldn't work with me there was now way Sheba would ever see my pack...Now she believes me...lol!

Andi, I don't think I've mentioned lately to anyone outside of my house but Koby is freakin' GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...I love his look & color!
K...anyway, April will be here Aug. 17 to the 18th...She is leaving around noon on the 18th I believe...If you can make it Andi, that'd be great!...If not Sept. is good too...It might even be better when it is cooler...My dogs spend a heck of alot of house time when it's hot out...They basically go out to potty & then are scratching at the door like sissies to get back in immediatly! :-\:D ...Does Koby handle the heat well?
I'm looking forward to seeing both you & April & your puppers...I am very excited! ;D

I don't think you should use knock out drops cause if you had Kiah, Kitana AND Koby you'd probably always get their names screwed up...too many K's. :P lol See I couldn't even have a Sammy and Sheba cause I would always call them Shammy and Seba...I'm not good with names! hahhahaa
I figure September would be great because it'll be cooler AND Tony would be able to come too! He used to have a Pyr friend (his neighbors had a pyr) when he was a little boy and he LOVED that dog so much, he hasn't seen a pyr since and I think he'd really enjoy your babies company too. His eyes lit up when I started talking about you so I think we'd all have a great time!

He goes outside for approx 1 min. 5 sec. to do his business then back inside he goes to lay by the fan! lol We usually take him outside around 7 or 8 so he can run and get at least a few minutes of excersize, but still he only lasts for about 5 min. then he's ready for the fan again.

You're telling me!...Have you come up with a name for your new girl yet?...I am not sure if we are going to register Sheba...It really is of no benifit to us as she will be spayed but I do love thinking up those fancy schmancy A.K.C. names so we might :D...The fun in doing it is worth (is it) 15 bucks? ;D
B.t.w., I am feeling pretty special tonight...I called Jackie & she wasn't in so I talked to Todd...Now I know Jackie thinks Pippin is pretty spectaular & so do I of coarse because he's mine! ;D but Todd told me that they wish they hadn't sold him on a limited contract...I often feel bad about having him neutered too because he is stunning in both confirmation & shows amazing gaurdian traits & moves beautifully but I just wasn't ready for all of that...I hope somewhere down the road, if I ever do decide to breed, I don't kick myself in the butt at "the one who got away". :-\ :D

Tell me more about the names you have in mind for Sheba. We are still working on a name for our new girl. I think I will start a poll with my top 10 names. I am still open to any great ideas ;D ;D It is killing me that I do not know which one it will be yet.

Not sure if we are even going to register her or not yet but I am thinking of names 'cause it's so much fun....I will find out the name of her sire & dam when we get her papers with her Thursday...Not sure if I will use their names or not...I am definitly not interested in using her kennel name as I did with Pippin because I just have a feeling that I am not going to like them once I am able to find out more about them...ya' know? :-\

She'll call me right after she picks Sheba up! They left around 9am central time and it's about a five hour drive. I'll post as soon as I hear from her. I'm so excited and jealous all at the same time!!

You guys made me laugh!...Nope..no speeding ticket...I remembered the fuzz buster this time & had my hubby mount his extra kick a** c.b. radio in the Durango for bear reports...We left town at 9:15 this morning & didn't get back to town until after 9 tonight...Had to stop for potty breaks & to water Sheba & we spent alot of time at the shelter...I am exausted but she is home!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D
