My BIG Angus bit me in my sleep!
« on: March 16, 2008, 05:28:08 pm »
My BIG Angus bit me in my sleep I have 3 herniated discs in my back and I thrash around a lot my hand hit the cat hard and he bit me in 3 different places. I jumped out of bed and my hand was really bleeding! One of the bites was on my knuckle I cleaned it out and bandaged it up the next am my hand was so swollen I couldn’t move it. In the afternoon I went to the ER they said why did you wait so long cat bites are very serious. I never knew that really I didn’t I thought dog bits were bad but I never knew cat bites could be that serious they said also since I am diabetic it was serious. I had 2 sets of antibiotics intravenously and then they put me on oral antibiotics.

Oh naughty, naughty, bad cat!!!

That sounds really nasty - What a mess - I hope everything is OK - I just re-read your post I was wondering why Angus did that but now I read that you think you hit him while sleeping.

Well he certainly is a beautiful cat but obviously not very good a sharing a bed!!

Seriously, I hope you are on the mend...quickly

Oh no!!  I'm so sorry about your hand!  I know how much that sucks, I got between my cat and a neighborsa cat once and my hand swelled up to the size of a grapefruit!  :o  It took about 2 weeks for the swelling to go down, it looked real nasty for a while too, once the entire hand went down, I had a big golf ball sized lump for another week or 2.   :P :-\

Today it is raining and i am not sure if it has anything to do with it but the swelling seems to increased. I did use my hand a lot yesterday making up easter baskets try making bows with 1 hand! Try coloring eggs with 1 hand! Or balancing an egg on those things with the whole in them that you pull the egg out of the cup took way to long for me to finish everything! Marina

So sorry about your injury :'(
being diabetic myself I understand the healing process is longer and sometimes infection can set in to where in someone thats not diabetic it normally would not, glad you went on and got medical attention.
