Do you think we should try to donate to shelters and/or people who need supplies for their pets once the hurricane blows out? I worry about people who are trying to get their lives back together trying to provide for their dogs as well. Is there any organization that coordinates care for the animals???
-
we could probably call/email the Red Cross!
-
Yeah, but they are usually swamped with needs for people....
I know that people do need help but there are so many organizations, like the Red Cross that are in the forefront of tragedies like this but I couldn't evacuate and leave my animals!
-
I couldn't leave mine either.
I might look for some place that knows of a need...and I'll get back to you.
-
Great idea, maybe PupDaddy has some connections...
I'll donate!

Great research! I just sent them an email asking what the need for the animals. I'll post it as soon as I hear something back!
Thanks!!!!
-
Great! Let us know! :)

Here's the reply:
Thanks you for contacting Noah's Wish. I have put your email aside
so we can take advantage of you kind offer as we become aware of our
needs. Our first team is leaving tomorrow to assess the situation
and then we will know better what our needs will be. Thanks, Dianne
Montague
I'll let you know what happens.
-
Keep us updated. We'd like to help! :)

Here's the next reply....as soon as I figure out how to copy the form on to this site, I will do so!!!
Thank you for contacting Noah's Wish. We really appreciate your
offer to volunteer. Noah's Wish is sending out their team tomorrow
and will assess the area to see what we will be needing in the way
of resources. I am attaching a copy of our convergent volunteer
form. If you could fill that out and let us know your special skills
it would help us immeasurably. Please fax your form to (309) 294-9722.
Due to the nature of the disasters we call up trained volunteers
first. Then we will call convergent volunteers that live in the area
because they are familiar with the area and next we call people who
live further away. I know that you are anxious to help but it is
important that you not just show up at the disaster area. We will be
contacting people as the need arises. Completion of the form does
not mean that you will be used in this disaster but we appreciate
your interest in helping animals in a disaster.
Please visit our web site www.noahswish. org to check to see what we
need at the disaster and then see if you can get people in your area
to donate these items. If you receive donate items please contact
us and we will let you know where to send them. While visiting our
web site check for information about becoming a trained volunteer.
There is an application which you can fill out for the training in
your area. Thank you again for your kind offer to help and we will
keep you informed.
Thanks, Dianne Montague and Linda Rogers
