: Drool
: Nina September 02, 2005, 12:09:40 PM
Ok I have never had a drooly dog and Dilbert didn't use to drool that much but now that he is getting older he is a drool macine! And it is turning even more slimy by the day! Does this happen as they get older? Makes sense but I thought I had the good life, I would brag that he didn't drool, well didn't that come back to bite me in the butt  ;D

Tenchi didn't drool until he was a little over a year.  I was so happy, then I was like.. "What is going on???  I thought I was in the clear!!!"  lol  Needless to say, he seems to drool more the older he gets.   :-\  Luckily its not too bad unless he's drinking....  anyone know what to put under a water dish that will soak up the gallons spilled onto the floor and put it back INTO the bowl?  If so, I'd love to get it!  ;)

I live in Drool! As I walked into our office just now I noticed dried drool with hair stuck on it on the office door ::)

Our Bella has not been much of a drooler...she is more tight lipped. But Rocco is such a drooler that he makes up for the drool Bella doesnt have!  He's almost 6 months and has been drooling since we got him.  We had to buy a bib, because when he drools it mats his chest hair. The bib does seem to help. Other than that, we carry drool rags with us, and boy they come in handy!  Rocco seems to drool more when he is excited or hot.  Either way, we live in drool around here. Drool and dog hair, but when you have News, that's to be expected :)

Uh-Oh - you guys are freaking me out!   :o

Riley doesn't drool... I mean at all (knock on wood!)  But now that I'm reading your posts... I have a feeling thats probably going to change as he gets older.  Today is his 1st birthday.

Ranger must have inherited his mouth from the non-St. Bernard side of his mixture....  he doesn't really drool so far.

He does do the thing where water pours out of both sides of his mouth after he drinks, though.  And the thing where after he drinks he runs into the living room, (or wherever you are), and shakes his head so that water sprays the entire room.  Then he runs around the room, using the edge of the couch and chair as his personal napkin.....   ;D

Sunshine Bear is only half pyrenees, but I haven't seen a drop of drool from this guy in the month that he has lived with me. My lovely boyfriend claims the dog has "no jowls". Time will tell in his new ...ahem ...Canadian home....
 ;)
Zoot is a drrroooler... when he is hungry or after visiting the water bowl. It hasn't gotten worse as he got older, or at least not since he has been full grown. Nigel is the King Drooler of the house for sure. If he's going to get worse as he gets older I am in big trouble!!! He seems to drink a lot of water but honestly I think his jowls are so loose it makes it hard for water to stay in that mouth of his. He trails it all over the place. I am way over being grossed out by it and I skip the whole "drool rag" thing and wipe his mouth with my bare hand, and from there my clothes are pretty much the drool rag.
 ;D

Don't read that wrong, I fouled it all up.  My husband was joking about him drooling from old age - not shooting the dog.  Nevermind, I'll start over and just buy my husband a bib.

LOL Dilbert started with the water pouring out of his mouth, now at 8 months almost 9 his lips are starting to hang and he drools. he'll be sitting by me and I'l feel the wetting on my leg feet. where ever it likes to land.  :) and I don't bother to pet under his chin anymore, it's all wet!  :D But I love him just the same. I started a new song for him to the tune of I'm jsut a Love machine, now it's I'm just a drool machine and I won't drool for nobody but you

With Spike it is the worst when he drinks but he does drool some times on his own he got some poor little girl that was trying to give him smooches he left a goober from her chin to the top of her head. I just used his bandana to wipe it off. And kept apologizing to her mom.

Ya' know, we actually get into the drool thing here!...The other night the kids & I were sitting with the dogs in the family room & Samson had a string of drool starting...Pre tty soon it was like 1/2 way to the floor & I'm like "look at Sam's drool kids"!...We all watched in amazement & cheered Sam on (who had NO idea what the fuss was about) & took bets on whether or not it would hang to the floor...It broke loose about 2 inches from the floor...That's what passes for fun around here...I am such a loser! ;D LOL!

Love the drool pic.

You guys are scaring me.  Just yesterday I was saying I am so glad that Gunther is not a drooler.  He does loose water when he drinks, and drools a bit if you have a treat, but otherwise, nothing.

Now you are telling me he will probably start drooling as he gets older?  My husband is just going to LOVE that.   :D

Sanity is the worst drooler EVER!  And it's nasty thick stuff too that he wipes on you and you can't fling off.  Think of the consistency of snot.  I don't have any pics of him drooling, but I have a LOVELY pic of what his slobber did to Hobo.

Araby is pretty bad sometimes, but she does it MAYBE once a month.  At the Deaf dog picnic last year she was HORRIBLE.  I just love it beause she's so stoic, and dignified and she's got slingers hanging to the floor.

Dilbert leaves those slingers on Harley too, not as good and the one that Sanity got Hobo with. But when it dries it leaves her fur all clumped togeather.

Well, I'm used to drool from the dog park.  There are several good droolers there.  One reason I like to wear long sleeves.   ;D

But I am so hoping that Gunther will be a dry mouth dane.  But after reading these, do I have much hope?

Zoey is such a drooler. When water spills out of her jowels it doesn't bother me too much, but I hate the sticky ones. Yuck! I can't tell you how many times I have had to change before work because my pants have been slobbered beyond belief in the time it takes me to take zoey out for a last quick potty in the yard and get myself out the door.

One of these days I have to take a picture of zoey when she's excited about food. If we're eating something she loves the smell of like pizza or cheeseburgers she will stare at us with a line of drool all the way down to the floor.

Bella has taken Zoey's advice about drool to heart ....she is slobbering her water all over the floor out of the back of her mouth where the lips are loose....and she did the drool almost to the floor when eating a couple nights ago...... :D :D

You should've seen the water all over the floor tonight - Bella found out she liked ice cubes, so stupid mommy put some in her water bowl - this made Bella very happy as she bit into the water to get the cubes & slobbered water on the floor; and her friend, Lucy, decided that she'd help the situation by pawing at the water that was left in the bowl & splashing it on the floor!!! :o ;D :o  Think they were trying to give me a hand cleaning the floor??? :D

Something much more gross than drool slingers happened with Dona (Rainbow Bridge)....she had a chronic sinus infection & would get long green things hanging from her nose ---  aaahg!!!  Where's the tissue when you need it??  Like when you're walking your dog in the park with green strings hanging from her nose & someone's kid is going - "oooooh, can I pet your doggie?"  ;D ;D ;D

Zeus is *pretty much* a non-drooler. About the only time he gets "foamy" (our oh-so-affectionate term for it) is when we are playing fetch or frisbee. He gets *very* worked up about his ball.

Apollo makes up for his brother. Yeesh!

Onyx...oh yeah, he's definately a drooler!

We had pizza delivered the other night. Now, we usually put the boys into a bedroom, (as your standard pizza-guy does not understand that 275lbs of dog chasing after them is not a sign of agreesion, but that the three mutants *really* want to be your new best friend. Really.) but apparently, my husband forgot one. He managed to get Zeus and Apollo into the kids' bedroom and shut the door just as I was opening the front door to accept our dinner, but Onyx was left uncontained as he lay by the couch in the front room. Our entryway leads straight into the front room. There is no obstruction of view from the front door to the family room. I leaned down to get the tip money out of my purse to hand to the nice delivery lady and saw a flash of black out of the corner of my eye. I whipped my head over in a flash of horror dreading that I would see Onyx bearing down on us......but the sight was not what I feared.

Oh no.

Onyx was contentedly sitting in his second-favorite pose, that of a bear, (his first being sprawled out, belly to the floor snoring.) with two of the juciest, longest, fattest strings of shoelace-drool hanging from his MOUTH TO THE FLOOR! (shoelace drool being the slimiest, slightly whiteish in color type) I turned back to the door, reassured that Onyx would not be plowing me down in an attempt to "make nice" to see the delivery girl fighting to contain her laughter as she says " Well, that's a sight sure to help you enjoy your dinner!" She accepted the tip, winked at me (!!) and strolled back to her car.

I closed the door and my husband and I burst into laughter!

I live in the drool world. Busa has always drooled. He is 1 1/2 now. I sure hope he does'nt get worse as he gets older. I don't think it can get worse. I have slime on the walls,floor,t.v. screen , counters oh and here is a little on the computer. My children clean it on a weekly basis. I just consider myself lucky if I get out of the house in the morning drool free!

That has to be one of the best pics I have seen yet with what I affectionately call a "shoestring of love"... and the look on his face is absolutely priceless!!!! I cannot wait for my baby girl to grow up....  I just tell ppl that the best way that I found to deal with the drool, get a small dog!.... for some reason, my corgi seems to think that the "shoestrings" on Eowyn are something evil, and therefore must seek and destroy those evil demons... Hence: No more drool.  That remedy might not be for everyone, but it works in this household. :D
