Is it really that out of control?

I can understand your point of view, and I do sympathize w/you and even though I don't know you well, I ask you not to leave.

You are one of the people that regularly put a smile on my face.  I would miss that greatly.   :-[

I refuse to walk on egg shells because people 'may' be offended and dont have the common sense to say,  'I took offense to that do you mind being more polite or could you elaborate on your post a little more'

To be honest, if people are that think skinned they shouldnt not be owning a Big pawed dog...

Note:

I am trying to delete as much as my old posts as possible but the first post in a topic I start cannot be deleted...so if you are confused it is because parts of the posts are missing

I am not sure what's going on as I have yet to find a post that is offensive to me. Passionate posts... yes.   But offensive?? That would have to be pointed out to me as I don't see it.

This is a wonderful group of very dedicated people who own breeds that are often misunderstood due to size and while I am still getting to know you all, I don't want any of you to leave , and certainly not because some anonymous person got their feathers ruffled.

If I am ever offended by what a member says I will tell that member right away , and I would hope that this would go the other way as well. Isn't that how one deals with such issues ??

I hope that the individual that caused you to leave realizes that they have been instrumental in denying the rest of us your knowledge. I would hope you sleep on it and reconsider.

I refuse to change the way I post...I have some college in me and I to be blunt I suck at grammar LOL  I am not an articulate person BUT not beating around the bush is the best way to understand it...sugar coating things to me makes things hazy

If someone told me I hurt their feelings or I have offended I would try to re-read what I have posted and correct myself and apologize BUT i have not a leg to stand on when I dont know how or where I am offending

Hopefully this person realizes how much they've upset they balance of BPO.  And I hope to GOD it wasn't their intention in the first place.  If I want people complaining about other people being mean and nasty, or backbiting or whiny people I have about......... .  Oh I don't know, fitfy other boards I can go to.

Babs, I hope you don't leave.  Your knowledge of LGDs is vital to the LGDs that we have here.  Your gorgeous pups will be missed and please, don't let one person ruin the group for what obviously is a hue section of people that will miss you.

It certainly would be helpful if the people that were asked to change their posting style knew exactly what someone else was finding offensive...As king you to chage how you post without any reference points is like asking you to just change your personality IMHO.

Babs I hope you don't leave. If you don't mind I would really like to keep in touch with you. I really like your furbabies and you haven't offended me at all. If something does offend me I take it with a grain of salt. We are all the same that we love animals, but are all different. Being different and getting different opinions is what I like about this place. If I don't like the advice I don't take it and I don't take it personally.

I must have missed something. I was away from BPO this weekend. What the h*ll happened that I came back and people were leaving? I was getting a present for Kiah. I will miss you!

Babs, Please dont leave. I really value your point of view & your knowledge. blunt or straightforwar d, whatever you want to call it, you have your opinions and you put them out there. I appreciate that. Same goes for Red. I would hate if this group turned into one of those places where we are all watching our every word.

I dont think anyone in this group is offensive. I can give you all a list of groups that have rude, offensive, know it all people if you wish? This group, to me, dont have people like that in it. I belong to like 10 groups on the internet and ever since I found BPO, I pretty much only come here. As soon as you get a group this big, you will get people who complain about things. But that is just life, you cant make everyone happy. Its nice to see the Admin. trying to make this group a safe place and full of nice caring people, but they dont have to try, it already is like that. Every member of this group makes it what it is, a great place. When I need advice and post on here, I look forward to reading posts from Ang, Red, Babs, and others who always offer advice. Just remember there is no such thing as a perfect place, but to me BPO is as close as it will get  :)

Whoa, I'm away for the weekend and chaos ensues!  :o   What happened?  I'm sorry that people are hiding and pointing fingers at some longstanding members.  :(  Though I have had a couple of disagreements or different points of view than Red and SAR, their information is invaluble to this room and I would hate to not see them on here any longer.

As for those who you are supposedly offending???  I don't know, people disagree all the time.  Just ignore the posts that bother you, or try writing something like:

"I'm not sure how you meant this, but it kind of upset me or offended me."

Or

"I know you feel that way, but I feel blah blah blah.  Perhaps we'll just have to agree to disagree... "

I hope that everyone who is being complained against will all stay on, you would be sorely missed.   :(

Wow...this is shocking!!  I'm relatively new to this board too, but I've been "surfing" it for some time and really like what I saw!  And that goes for direct, articulate posts about specific topics.  That helps, it doesn't hurt....it's nice to get warm and fuzzy posts too, but support and advise is what we come for here, no?  I think you've been wonderful, and I was so happy to hear you're staying.  Your dogs are beautiful - and I would miss seeing pics of them.  Besides, it was you that offered up that appetizing photo of tripe for us all, hmmmm....(maybe that’s what did it!) LOL…sorry, I thought a little humor might help.  This string of posts from everyone who received those PM's made me sad.  Bogard and I are happy to see you stay!

He is quite adorable, that Bogard.

How is he doing now?

thanx...I'm a proud mama!

and ......my previous post goes towards you also.  I have actually taken to scrolling through all of your posts for my puppy raising advice – all of your “series” of postings have been very informative and so helpful, easy to read b/c they are direct and concise!!   ;D  With that said....he's keeping down his food, which is great.  NO more vomiting...ano ther good sign.  And we're talking to the vet about titers for parvo/distempter on Monday.  Still has the nasty, nasty snots (I liked your saying there) but seems in great spirits otherwise...so odd.  I'm just happy to see him keeping food down and having normal bowels.  THANK YOU for asking!!!  I read that you only give your pups 2 Parvo/Distemper shots, is this right?  Do you ever recommend their owners give 3?  Or do you recommend they titer after 2 if they live in a "high risk" area? (Sorry, I'm a lot off topic here)
: Re: GOOD BYE BPO

No, what I really think is that a few people who are dog savvy have showed up, and sort of taken control of the direction of this forum, and I think it has "torn up the playhouse" of a certain few, hence the complaints.
Now, see, I totally agree that there are some very dog savvy people that post here, but I don't see the information, advice or opinions that you guys post as "taking control", at least not in any kind of negative way.  And I would hope that no one else would see it that way - that you were trying to drive the forum in one direction or another.

I think that, at least in my personal opinion, we look to different members of BPO for different things.  I know that a lot of us look to our resident experts for advice and more "technical" kinds of information, if you will.  Red, I don't necessarily expect you to join in on a conversation about sleepovers, friendship bracelets, or eating dogs brains, LOL!   ;D  And no one expects me to step up and be an expert on breeding, training or brucellosis.

But, I think there is room for both kinds of conversations.  Just like sharing your life with a dog, BPO is sometimes sad, controversial and serious, sometimes light-hearted, funny and random.  I think we need our blunt, tell-it-like-it-is people just as much as we need our feel-good, make-you-laugh people.

I just feel like as long as we are all considerate and respectful of each other, there is room for us all, even when we disagree.  Yeah, I would probably get my feelings hurt if someone came right out and said to me, "Ranger is a ticking timebomb, and should be put to sleep for the good of all humanity, and it is all because you feed him cheap dog food" or "Ranger is an ugly, badly behaved, example of why a Saint Bernard and a Brittany Spaniel should never be allowed in a room together with a bottle of wine", but I would also probably tell that person that I thought their tact could use a brush-up and we would deal with it one-on-one, rather than impact the whole board.

I just feel bad that some folks are getting slammed for trying to give honest advice in the most tactful way that they can - just as I would be hurt if someone went behind my back to say "You know, Marsi is really offensive to me because she can never be serious".  And, I would be VERY sad to learn that people were being unfairly accused of things by other people that wanted to make BPO all one way or the other...

Deena,
I hope you reconsider and stay. I have found friendship and concern, comfort and advice here. Sometimes people don't have an open mind and when they ask a question, are offended by honest answers. Some times they just aren't ready to hear what they may already have guessed or maybe they just don't like to see people who genuinely care for each other! I have had to apologize in the past when something I posted as a joke was taken seriously and I was shocked that it was taken wrong.    Cindy

Yes, I remember that incident, the mojo incident. It was cleared up right away because I mentioned I was uncomfortable with it. Had I not said anything I probably would have thought that Rents hated my dogs and it would have hurt my feelings. The key is communication ;) Something offends you or you don't understand, speak up! ;D

Cindy,

I'm not leaving. BabsT was leaving, but she's changed her mind.

I just hate to see the hurt feelings over reading things into something tha's not there. That's why I posted the Nail Story.

I like it here! Hey, why else would I post who is the funniest person on BPO? You are alot fun too. Everyone just needs to take a deep breath and relax. Doctor's orders.

Thanks Cindy!

I agree, CHILL PEOPLE!!!  So much unnecessary drama, "I'm leaving forever, goodbye CRUEL BPO!!!!"  I already posted my feelings about this on the "Sorry if I offended someone..." thread: http://www.bigpawsonly.com/index.php/topic,4360.msg54328.html#msg54328
