Well...here's the deal.
Woman wants to find Gracie, 8 months old a good home. She also has a Pyr and several GSP's. Their farm is getting auctioned off in October. Hubby wants to get money out of the dogs. He wants $100 each for the GSP's and $200 for the Newf and the Pyr. He wants to take them to a swap meet on Saturday to do this. He's not willing to come off of that, and wife is upset.
So, anyone? I can pick her up, but I can't do the $200 right now. My boyfriend would KILL me. I can get her spayed and shots, though. My vet will do it dirt cheap for me.

Dogs at a swap meet doesn't sound like they will get a good home.

Hey Nicole! So glad you called and got more information. Is the $200 per dog ($200 for the Newf and $200 for the Pyr), or for both together? Did she mention anything about the Pyr? Please let me know. If you don't have any information I guess I'll call her. :)

I don't have any info about the Pyr. But, it sounded like he wanted $200 for each one....$200 for Newf and $200 for Pyr. I can pull the Pyr if you want, Deena. But, I don't have $200!!!

I am willing to chip in $25 -- Nicole let us know about paypal. I am sick thinking of a "swap meet" for dogs -- poor dogs will likely end up in puppy mills

Hey Nicole,
I called Lorie, she says she only has a Newf. The Pyr was sold with the goats, it was a working LGD. She said the Pyr has a great home. Just needs to rehome the Newf. I'll kick in if you need to raise money to pull the dog. I've got alot to do today, but will check back in tonite. :)

I just called Lorie. She teared up on the phone when I explained to her what is happening. She said, "Please tell them that they really have no idea how cool this is. Very, very cool" I think that she was feeling awful about the possibility of her hubby selling her baby into a bad life.
We're making arrangements and I should have her by tomorrow! ;D

Everyone is so awesome pitching in to keep this girl from a life of puppies..which is what you know will happen if hubby sells her at a swap meet! >:(
I just spoke with Julie on the phone. She and hubby are going to discuss the possibility of taking Gracie in the fall. Either way, this girl will be safe! I'll post pics when I pick her up, which is probably tomorrow!

You have all touched my heart today. I have really been upset lately about not being able to foster and knowing the rescue I work with has been turning away animals. Today we have all pulled togather and saved a dog in need. Thank you so much. You will never know how much I need something like this to happen.

I am so freaking furious. The woman (Laurie) just called me. She is GIVING HER BACK TO THE WOMAN SHE RESCUED HER FROM. I'm so mad. She told me how she rescued this dog from this woman, and now this woman is living in a trailer after losing her farm....UUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUGH!
I will send everyone's money back. I can't believe that you all pulled together to help me help this girl. That is just downright amazing. Its too bad that this woman is too stupid to do the right thing. At least you all were. I'm touched. Thank you so much. Going to paypal now....

So sorry I have missed on this, personal emergency arose and I have been off of the computer now for about 2 days. So whats the scoop. I have some money I can send- and any thoughts on anyone showing up at the swap meet? Maybe they are not telling the truth- maybe they think that they can get more- I wish that I were closer to Indiana ( Texas ) but I am willing to help- just say the word. I am worried about all of the dogs - stupid people should not be allowed to have children or dogs.

I do agree with No Dog Now. $$ in hand do make a difference to the hubby, if he's there and you're there with a couple Benjamin Franklins, you've got the dog!

Yeah, my house was absolutly fine, but Nicole's neighborhood was a disaster. Her house wasn't damaged thankfully.
I just went back and read that 2 of the GSPs are puppies. :'( :'( :'(

Perhaps you could pass on your number for the first owner incase she needs it?...I am curious though or did I miss something?...The first owner lost her farm & moved to a trailer but why was the dog rescued from the 1st owner? :-\

Well, to complicate matters further, the whole area was hit by tornadoes this evening! Several bad ones. Nicole is fine but without power. Dobergurl and Krismark are safe, too. It sounds like their homes are fine, too, but there is a lot of destruction in the area with uprooted trees and damage to homes. There's no telling how long before they'll have power back and such. Please keep them all in your thoughts.
The people with these dogs are far enough away that they probably didn't get the storm, but it may be a few days before Nicole can contact them again. I'll let you know if I hear any news.
