Just remember folks, this is most likely
the result of back yard breeding.
Mixing of colors to make
unrecognised colors and then give them exotic names.
(ie: fawniquin, merlequin, blueiquin, etc.
Then to advertize them as rare colors
instead of mistake colors that they truly are.
I just hate it when folks try to give exotic names
to bad breedings.
I also hope she finds a wonderful home.
Sure hope she's spayed or will be spayed before she is
placed.

Just so you know, MSF, I am the one who called this dog a blue-le-quin. She's listed on petfinder, she's a rescue, and they are not advertising her as a rare color. :)

ETA: I feel confident that the South Carolina Dane rescue will have her spayed before a new home is found. ;)

She's sooo cute!!!  And she does look a little blue around the ear!  Funny name Rebekah!!!  Hopefully someone will take her soon!

It isn't necessarily bad breeding though.  Only if the dog was being called some whacked term, rather than the dilute harl it is.. Though the dog doesn't look well bred.. I'm just pointign out it doesn't scream that it is impossible from a good breeder either.

Blue and black could be bred together.  Black can carry a gene for blue.  Harls are bred to blacks.  So if a harl holds a recessive gene for blue, and you have a black with the recessive gene for blue
You get a dilute harl.

Around here so many advertise
RARE COLORS
So I assumed she may of been from such a litter.
Thanks for setting me straight dog healer.
It's so silly the way folks advertise their badly bred Danes around me. (Tacoma/Seattle area)
It may not be with this girl.
But many around me are not breeding in
what one may consider a reputable manor.
Trying to come up with weird colors
and what's amazing is they are big sellers these
mixture of none recongnised colors.

Hope she finds the perfect forever home.
She is a pretty dog.

:) I wanted to post her because she is beautiful and very interesting to me, because I love ALL colors of Danes whether they are recognized or not. It's not the dogs' fault that the breeders were stupid!! :D ;)

I myself am the proud mommy of a "Fawnequin", if you will, and no one anywhere was charged extra for her because of her coloring. When Will found her on Petfinder she was actually listed as a Harlequin. I think her former owners may have actually been embarassed by her odd color! :o

Here in the Southeast we have a lot of those Dane "breeders" who don't know the first thing about what they are doing, and there seems to be a lot of fawn to Harlequin breedings going on, and a lot of merles being bred too which is unfortunate. :'( So I can see where you are coming from.

If I were looking for another dog to adopt right now... I would love to have this girl. :) She would look so good with my Danes!!! :D ;)

I'm gonna take a guess, and say Rebekah likes the movie The Fifth Element??????

I love Leeloo, she's one of my fav's on here. She just looks so stunning!

Leeloo says thanks for the compliments. ;D She knows she was not a "well-bred Dane" in any sense but she also knows that we love hertoo much to care about that kind of thing. ;)

And YES! Her name came from the movie the Fifth Element, starring Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, and of course Milla Jovovich. ;D ;D ;D
