: Teeth chattering
: shangrila November 29, 2006, 03:19:58 AM
Lately, Zoey has been chattering her teeth a lot. She will open and close her jaw really quickly, sometimes hard enough to make her teeth click together, sometimes not closing her mouth but having her jaw sort of tremble.

What are the possible reasons for this?

tiny, our pitbull we recently had to give to a new home, did this when she got over excited.  every time she saw another dog, or especially a cat or stranger, she'd chatter her teeth and we'd know she was getting too excited, and that she was likely to act a fool or cause a problem.  not sure if this is the case with your baby but that's when tiny did it.

Riley the wonder weim does that sometimes.... first it appeared to happen after he got a good sniff of something.... but then I read in a book that it is a nervous reaction.... so basically I don't have a clue... but am curious to know as well.

st bernards are known to have nuero problems, i would be sure this is not nueroligical related, if it is just when she is sitting and not excited, than i would get her checked, it could be epileptic related to.
good luck!

Farley does it sometimes when he is really really excited. He will do it when I grab his leash and he knows he is going for a walk.
