Thanks everyone on behalf of Zita.  We are almost totally sure ours is the black brindle and that her name will be Zita, short for Rosita.  If she doesn't look like a Zita, we would have Rosie as a backup name.

There are new pictures on her Photobucket.

One month to go.

Wow, lots of questions.

Zita's mother is  Blusteel's Nika who is a granddaughter of Goliath's Warrior Délano.  Zita's dad is Ch. Jordi Della Porta Dipinta who is a son of Cheno.

We have lots of experience with large, high-energy, single minded dogs.  This semester all my classes are online so I can spend as much time as possible with her and her two-year-old canine auntie.

Auntie is the dog closest to the camera.

Where are those other CC pups in recent posts from?

Zita arrived on time, and her auntie arrived a week later.  She is the sweetest thing and gets along will all the dogs except for one who has issues with food guarding.  The auntie is a bit timid but is getting over it quickly.

Zita could reach the top of the stove at 12 weeks, was 48 lbs. at 16 weeks, was taller than her 2-year-old auntie dog by 20 weeks, and at almost 24 weeks she takes up most of a twin sized mattress.

She figured out how to get into the back of my Beetle quickly once she realized there were freeze-dried liver treats involved.  To keep her in the back, and not in my lap, I put together some chain, swivels, and quick clips which gets attached to the brackets that hold the back seat in place.  The center point attaches to her harness.

Now that the mystery of the camera phone has been solved, expect a barrage of pictures.  :)

Sorry for the delay in posting pictures.  I wonder how doggies are doing when people suddenly stop posting, especially with giant pups, but all is well.

I got spayed a few weeks ago and things have been in disarray.  That five-pound lifting limit was the worst because it meant no leash training for our Zita for weeks.  She is slowly remembering how to walk at my side, but it took three snaps with a borrowed choke chain to get her started.

For my "being brave in the hospital treat" I got a digital camera.  Here is a picture of Zita asleep on her bed.  The mattress is now on the floor since she kept rolling over and slipping off.

oooh i want a new camera too!
set backs in training are always a bummer, but they seem to always snap back into shape pretty quickly.

awww she is getting big...How tall?..

Glad to hear your feeling better. Cute how you say you were spayed, I had to re-read your post to make sure we were on the same page..

Got spayed 12 years ago myself, and I still remember. One of the most difficult for me to recover from.

Zita is difficult to measure unless asleep.

From her nose to her rump is 50 inches, and she is too big for a 32-inch-tall crate.  When she is reclining on her twin bed, there are about 18 inches of unused space at the foot end now that she has discovered the use of the pillow.  She can rest her chin on my desktop and with her front paws on the 40-inch-tall gate she is almost as tall as I am at 5'2".

Once she is back asleep I will measure her giant spider legs.

She will be eight months old on the 20th.

The spaying went well and there are only four tiny scars.  My sister came to stay for almost three weeks and successfully prevented Zita from jumping on the incisions.  My hubby is a RN so it was really nice having him around too.

Zita's newest thing she learned was to not open the door with the loose latch by jumping on it.  Now we can stop locking it behind us every time we go through.

Her newest favorite toy is a Nylabone that looks like a turkey drumstick.  She has been chewing on it for hours and has barely dented it.  It is so nice to finally find a toy she enjoys that she can't destroy in minutes.
