Sam went in this morning and was sedated so the doctor could do a thorough exam of his eyes. After the procedure the doctor informed me that Sam's condition is worse than we originally thought. Sam's left retina is detached with an active hemorraghe (sp) which prevented the doctor from even seeing the back of the eye to find out what his field of vision is. His right retina is also detached and he has many small cysts in the center of his eye. His vision is very minimal at this point, and it is unsure if he has any vision on the left side.
He has been referred to another specialist tomorrow and will be having surgery next week, probably monday to either reattach the retina or remove parts of it, whatever they deem necessary at that time.

I'm sorry it wasn't better news. It does sound like the doctors are doing everything they can and when they are not sure doing the right thing and referring Sam to another specialist.

i'm so sorry that your family is going through this, i know it must be tough although i can't begin to know what it's like. we are sending our thoughts and good vibes your way, give the little bugger a hug for us! please let us know if there's anything we can help with!

I can't thank you all enough for the kind words and support. I am just trying to take it all in right now, I think I need a breakdown, but I am not there yet. I have to hold it altogether to get through this and to get my little boy through this.

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I keep typing things out, and erasing them because no matter what I type, there's nothing that anyone can say that will fix it. :(
Please know that we are here and will continue to lift you up in our thoughts and prayers. That sure doesn't sound like much. But it's all I know to do.
