Murphy was a stray in a nearby county (the area of NY you keep seeing on the news with all the snow!). They adopted him out three times, but each time he was returned because the adopters' other dogs refused to accept this giant puppy, and each one attacked him. Being a county run shelter, his next step was to be PTS as unadoptable, but the shelter staff knew what a great pup he is, and did not want to go that route, so they put the word out that they wanted a home with mastiff experience to take him, and a mastiff friend of mine asked me to take him for a while, so here he is!

He is so handsome - May I say thank you for all the wonderful work you do and for saving such a great pup. I wish I could bring another dog into our home but I honestly don't think Harley would be happy about.

OMG what a handsome guy, he's lucky to have you and your crew to show him the ropes to being a well mannered boy and getting a fur-ever home(that is of course you don't fall head over heels with him and keep him all to yourself) ~ really what's one more ;)

Thanks so much for thinking of me, I WISH ~ I just sent you a e-mail, I do know that specialkdanemo m is/was looking for a male mastiff to rescue ~ fingers crossed everything works out, he is one handsome boy, but I don't think hubby will give inĀ :'(

Anyone interested can contact me at mblake at localnet dot com. Not sure what info on him you would like, but being that he started as a stray, we really don't know much, other than his day to day behavior since he has been here, which has been just over a week now. He is a wonderful pup, well behaved, and it is very very hard for me not to adopt him permanently myself.

Congrats on your new "baby" boy! He's so handsome. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the transport works out quickly. I would help out but I doubt Texas is anywhere in the transport agenda.

It's a good thing he likes to ride, because the trip to his new home is almost 40 hours, just in drive time! At this time, it looks like he will be "going on the road" with dad, and meeting Karen and family somewhere in the midwest the last week of April. I am so glad he is going to have other large pups to play with- he has a wonderful time racing my others around the yard and playing, and would probably be bored if he was going to be an "only child".

Imani's Mom it must be bittersweet to let him go but excellent to know he is going to such a wonderful family that understands big dogs!!

I think this must be similar to what *good* breeders feel when they send their puppies to new homes- I am excited for all of them, I miss him already (and he is still right next to me!) but I am satisfied that he is getting the perfect home- if I was not positive of that, he simply would not be going! I am very happy that I will be able to watch him grow up and mature right here on BPO, and through emailed pictures as well *hint hint* I also know once Karen has him, she is going to be completely hooked on mastiffs, and will want to ALWAYS have at least one in her home for the rest of her life!

Murphy is such a gorgeous boy! It's so exciting when a BPO foster gets to go to a BPO home! Then we get to keep track of them forever!! I'm so eager to see how the mastiff fits in with the danes. I hope he doesn't feel like the "ugly duckling!" (Not that I think he's ugly, I think he's absolutely, magnificently gorgeous!)

This is soooo awesome, and to think I played alittle part in all this ~well maybe I did ~ kinda? ;D Hope everything goes well that's one long drive he'll be on, but well worth it in the end ~ and I agree Karen you'll be hooked on Mastiffs forever ;D

Not sure what those words mean!! We would never spoil our dogs. ;)
Just cuz we upgraded our Queen size bed to a King about 3 years ago... Just cuz when we bought a new vehicle in 2003(F350 crew cab w/ a canopy), it was based on transporting the "entire" family, camping gear and able to pull a trailer ... Just cuz my husband built a window "bed" (4ft x 6ft) in our room so "all" the dogs could sit and look out the window together... I'm not sure what "spoiled" means! ;D

Need to check w/ Margaret! Her husband drives a truck, so he's checking out his route for the last week of April (our vacation week) and we're going to take a road trip and I think we'll be able to meet along the line somewhere.
Still have to wait for the final destination, date, and time.

Right now, Jim is looking for a run for early that week that goes somewhere near Boulder, Colorado; I will post more info as soon as I know anything more. Karen, I can't wait for you to see baby boy's smile for the first time!

Maybe I am spending too much time studying this boy, but it sure seems to me that he is growing, and FAST! Did anyone else notice that in any pics taken from above his eye level he looks very puppyish (is that a word?) and in ones taken from his eye level or below, he looks very grown up?

Your're right! Murph-Man looks soooo much older in the "eye-level" pics and very "pupperish" in the others.
He does appear to know how handsome he is. He'll definitely fit in... Sera knows she's a Princess! :D
