How many people on here have IWs? Does anyone live with more than one?
-
Does she like Bologna? LMAO...sorry I couldn't resist. :)

Like Holly said we have Amy's family on the board and I believe on other active IW family.
A note though a family friend has three IWs Fynn, Ghandi, and Toby and our new neighbors (two houses up the road), have a 9 month old IW, Keagan. So we have a total of 4 in our area that I know.

coming in quite late. I've been absent from the site for awhile... Very busy! and having health problems myself.
But we have one IW for now. Sullivan is 4 years old. and a cream grey brindle. He's my beautiful boy.
We had plans on getting another about a year ago, but those changed and we are still with a single IW.. and two cairns and four cats ;)

I so agree with Holly. I want an IW at some point in my life and I will have one- just not anytime in the for see able future. They are such magnificent dogs.

Awe...the pictures in your avatar of sullivan looks a lot like my Morgayne. She is cream and grey brindle too. I love her to pieces, but she is very different from the Danes personality wise. She is verty laid back, and just sort of watches what is going on. The only time she gets really excited is when she plays with Gracie.

Hi guys, we have one wolfie so far, Amy. She is still going for her championship, she has 6 points, but we hope to change that next weekend. 4 to go.
We are getting our second wolfie after the 15 of October. We had to wait till the dog show was over so the puppy wouldn't get anything from our dogs, she will have all her shots up to date when we get her but not sooner, so we are very excited to pick her up. Her is a pic of her at 9 weeks, she will be 10 weeks this Sunday.

Hey..are there any sites where I can see an adult wolfhound that is black? I am so in love with your pup...I would like to see what a grown up looks like. :)

This is the only black dog I have found yet, we talked to him and they are trying to breed him to his female. We are on a list waiting to see if anything comes from the breeding. They haven't had to much success. Bred her twice so far and nothing.
Anyways, I am told that the dog is black and has grey furnishings. That is what our pup will have too.
I think it is so cool, you just don't see them very ofter.
Sara came from a litter of 11 and there are 4 black puppies. One female and three boys. Our breeder is keeping a black as well.

The grooming is so different for the wolfhounds compared to our newfie. Amys hair is plucked by hand and furminatored. Joys is brushed and trimmed with thinning scissors.
Amys is easier, she doesn't shed like Joy, It is so easy for us when we go to shows, Amys just needs a quick brush before we go in the ring but Joys need a few hours to manicure her hair. I bathe Joy on a Wed, show on a FRi, do the grooming at the show site on Thurs night and it takes two hours. Crazy.
Amys needs a bit of work to keep it tidy around her ears but not very hard.

Do yo remember how much Amy weighed at 8 months?? I feel like Morgayne is soooo skinny. I'm sure it is normal, but it seems like everytime she starts to look like she is filling out, she grows. She was 8 months on the 28th of Sept. and she is taller than thorn or Dane now (about 33"). I'll have to get a weight on her but I am guessing she is 80-90 pounds.
-
I only have her weight at 7 months, 89 lbs. her height at 7 1/2 months was 31 inches. We need to get her weighed again, I am curious too. If you can feel her ribs but not in between them, then she is probably just right, you don't want an overweight wolfhound. Just run your hand on her ribs and you should feel her ribs.
-
Her ribs are a bit to prominent..and I can feel her hipbones a bit too. Hopefully she is about done with the growing tall and will put on a few pounds. I don't let any of my dogs get heavy...I have always kept my danes lean, so far no hip issues. Tisha was 11 and other than a little arthritis she didn't have any hip issues. Thorn is 8 and acts like a pup still. :)
-
We have a friend that breed wolfies and her dogs are leaner thatn ours, that is because they are exercised more than ours too. Amy (me) has grown lazy, my fault. I hate the cold, and I will use every excuse in the book to not walk her, I usually get my daughter to walk her.
-
LMAO! Well, Morgayne runs and excercises everyday. We have about 5 acres and they all get to burn energy every morning and evening and with 2 pups...they wear each other out.
