Well, I just left the emergency vet w/out my baby! Taking some really
good advice I am drinking wine as that is what I had at my house.
Obviously he got into some food at daycare today and when I came home I
fed him as usual and his tummy immediately swelled and he started
screaming! Off to the vet we went, good news he is stable, but would
not throw up for them so I opted for overnight care. I will be up
cleaning all night. I already miss his sweet face!
-
I hope he is feeling better in the am. Very scary for you :o
-
oh poor adak! i hope he can come home tomorrow. poor baby. im sorry
-
i got him there before he bloated, but since he would not throw up for them I chose the overnight care, he is at the best Emergency Vet in Charlotte, they were so nice and said that he was very stable when I left and was walking and on an iv. I cried the whole way there so scared that he would not make it, but I got him there in a lot time thank goodness. It was weird, he ate and only 1 cup of food then started screaming and his tummy was swollen and then he pooed then kept screaming, so I loaded him up and we went straight to the vet.

If it would have not been for his breeder, I would have been a nervous wreck entering the building, she stayed on the phone with me until I went to open the door. She is wonderful! She kept telling me to calm down and telling me how to keep him calm. I am so lucky to have her in my furkid life, she is absolutely the best!
-
she is wonderful, you can call her anytime day or night and she does not mind. We have a 24/7 list for the owners of her line as well.
-
I miss him soooo much, he is so sweet and his little face, I can't wait to see him in the morning :'(
-
hope all goes well with him.. maybe im missing something but what caused that?????
-
he was at daycare today, when I picked him up they told me that he tried to eat another dogs food, well come to find out he gorged himself, and the did not see it. So we go pick up his new food, go by my friends house, he had massive blow out booty, I did not think too much about it, then we get home, I fed him and immediately he started screaming and his tummy was tight and swollen. Basically he had a lot of food in his tummy which if left untreated could cause bloat
-
Ok, I can not sleep, I just called to check on him, no vomit, no diarreah, he is resting with an iv.... :'(
-
Wow, what a scary evening you had! Poor Adak and poor you. It's a good thing that you were right on top of all of this, good job! I'm glad that he's doing well now, though. I hope that you can get some sleep and be ready to give him lots of hugs in the morning.
-
i barely slept last night and can go get him this morning, I am actually getting ready to leave now, had to wake up a little.

-
I'm so glad that Adak is home and doing well! Give him big hugs for me.

-
OMG Tasha how scary! I am soooo glad Adak is going to be okay! Sending tons of hugs to you both!
-
fiew! Im glad that it wasnt severe and that he's home with you now! bloat is scary!
-
Oh I'm glad to hear is home and doing well. Bloat can be a scary thing but you were right on top of it and got him there in time.
-
that was scary, it is really good to be intune with your dog's behavoirs and never second guess anything! The reason for the overnight stay was because he would not vomit and they were afraid the food would keep expanding and push into his blood vesseles and start to twist. I hope he learned his lesson, but unfortunately he is a malamute and very food driven!
