We wanted to let everyone know that Cirra passed her TDI tests with both of us yesterday. She was not perfect however good enough to pass. Her temperament is fabulous for therapy work - her heeling - well, she's a Pyr. We are very excited!!!
Well of course she passed she is beautiful and smart!!

Congratulations!! She will be a wonderful TD and I'm sure that she'll bring a smile and comfort to many people. ;D :-* It's wonderful that you are doing this!
As far as needing to heel goes, I think that she was just thinking for herself and decided that she really didn't need to do such a thing anyway. She probaby figures that she's learned all of the important stuff, who needs to heel anyway. LOL ;) ;D Please give the sweet girl a big hug for me!

I didn't know that heel was part of the test.Only walking on a loose lead.As long as they aren't pulling or dragging you across the room.Besides it is the team the both of you working together that gets the pass.
So Momma did good too.You need congrats as well because whether you know it or not now.you will find that you become invisible and it will be all about Cirra.
Mom's can take this well though and I hope that you have fun with this new adventure. Tricia and the fur kids
Thanks for everyone's kind words. There are a very limited number of therapy dog tests in our area so the pressure was on. Cirra is ready to start visiting and we will begin as soon as we get her certification from TDI. We have had to wait for her to mature enough to control her exuberance when greeting. Heeling is not part of the test - it is loose leash walking. I just called it heeling however Cirra can and will heel when she is in the mood - Pyrs. Cirra is very social and friendly. She just loves everybody and we think that she will really enjoy therapy work. She does seem to be a "smile machine".

LOL! Very funny! We had the same issue...the TDI evaluator told me to work on heeling a little bit. It's not like Pyrs can't walk on loose leash... it's just that when they decide to stop, they do and you have to drag them around until they change their stubborn mind ;D Other than that they are so calm and assertive ;)
