: snow!!! How do you do it!!!
: zchic December 04, 2007, 07:10:37 PM
OK, we got like 5 inches of snow over night (and still falling). I took the dogs out to see what they would do (Morgayne and Gracies first time to see snow). They all had a BLAST!!! They ran and played and wrestled.  Morgayne was even laying in it and rolling on her back. They stayed out about an hour, and when we went to come inside, the wiped the danes off no big deal (I am use to that having had danes for 11 years) but then came Morgayne.... the snow was stuck everywhere!!! her paws had golfball sized snowballs in them! it took 20 min. just to get the clumps off so she could go in by the fire and dry out. How in the heck do those of you with Newfies, saints, etc do it?? LMAO

We got another 3-5 in MSP yesterday as well and the two lads had a blast in it last night and this morning.  I like goading Duke to run into deep snow (Silly Bassett).  Voodoo does not shovel the snow or make angels like she used to but she still loves to go out in it for a while.

LOL!!  Ahh yes, gotta love the big snowballs that stick to their paws!! LOL!!   :D  It is quite annoying, I just pick them off on the porch before I let him in lol.   Sometimes, Timber likes to pick them off himself! lol.

I don't know much about Newfie or Saint fur, but if it's anything like a Pyrs then it's really not that big of a thing.  Naja will have some snow stuck to her paws but that's it, it'll just fall right off of her everywhere else.  Not like my poor little Moo!  He was so packed with snow he couldn't move the other day!  Poor baby, so cute though!!   :D

Alex, I agree about the pyr hair.  The snow seems to just fall off them.  I guess they were made for this kind of weather!  But my little guys are a different story.  They always end up with big snow balls hanging off 'em.  Poor little things get so cold and frozen I can only let them out to play for a few minutes at a time.

Awwww! Poor Moo!!! haha

And I ALSO agree that the snow doesn't really stick to pyr hair...It doesn't get all balled up anyway. I mean, of course there is a bit of snow on the paws...but nothing you can't wipe off.

We have about 16-18 inches of snow on the ground right now...and 3 dogs who get 'marshmallows' in their fur when they go out in it.  Bodhi and Ribbit get it in their ears and leg fur...poor Stubby is completely covered because he is so short and Bodhi rolls him around!  I'll have to get my camera and take a few pics!
