: Adding a Bullmastiff to our family
: iluvbigdogz July 31, 2005, 07:37:33 AM
I have a 1 and 1/2 year old great pyr and a (?)2 year old benji type dog. My sister has a 5 year old Bullmastiff that she can't keep any more.  They have had him his whole life. I have 2 children who have always been around him (8 & 12) and she has a 3 year old and a 5 month old baby. The dog just does not realize his size and will knock her daughter over or almost trample the baby. He is an absolute sweetheart. He does not have an agressive or alpha bone in his body. He is not neutered. Both of my dogs are neutered. My pyr has shown some alpha type things only with us, not other dogs. We quickly correct him when he acts that way. He is also young. When we got the Benji dog, he just accepted him right away and we have never had a problem. I don't really know how the Bullmastiff is around other dogs. Honestly he does not get the attention he deserves from my sister. No walks or exercise and they expect him to be a perfect gentleman in the house all day. My question is: If I were to decide to take him, how would I introduce the dogs? The pyr is 130 pounds and the mastiff is 165 and all muscle. The are both very sweet but I don't know what I would do if anything happened. Any advise would be appreciated.

I wonder how it went, did you decide to take the bullmastiff in iluvbigdogz? It would be interesting to hear if he is now living with you or if you decided to not take him, and if so what happened to him. Ohhhhh AND pics lots of pics of all your babies  :D
