We got first place, but the other dog got best puppy? How does that work? I don't understand...a m i suppose to go in after the entire show at the end after the bitches are in? Then they judge the dog and bitch pups? please help...i wanna win!!!!! >:( ;D

I don't know anything about show dogs and how it all works. But congrats on taking first!

All the post about dog shows make it sound really exciting. I've never been to one. Is there an "All American Mutt" category? Cuz that would be us!! ::)

In Canada, any dog entered (under 1 year old) will compete for best puppy, along with winners. If one of these puppies takes win best of winners or winners, it automatically wins best puppy because it has defeated all the rest of the puppies. If an adult wins the above, the best puppy from each class will have to go back in the ring and the judge will pick from them. This should be the last judging of that breed. Best Puppy of breed will then move on to Puppy group to compete. Assuming a puppy does not take a regular group placement, one puppy will be chosen to compete for best puppy in show. I believe it works the same in the States.

Lauren what class were you in and how many puppies were there entered in all. Did you go back in the ring for the BP in breed? Also there isn't a best puppy usually at the US shows. It does happen but not very often. I don't think there was a best puppy in Syracuse.

we were in the 9-12 class here...and there was just me and that aprocot pup we always go again here in ma....he has gotten BP twice now, i was at both shows when he got it,..although we left after winners. He got BP at the connecticut river show and at the last springfield show too. I don't know if he is going against the females or not, but we were there and didn't see that go on. He just went in the ring, on sunday he did get 1st, we got 3rd and then he got bp too??? I was just wondering how that works then, because we have been in first and not had that happen. Do a record look up, i will pm the name of the dog, just incase it can't be here.

I really don't think there was a BP in Syracuse. Not every show has then. CT River did. Tripper took it on the Saturday. I'll look at the results and try and figure it out for you.

So i found a show on sun the 27 in RI that has best puppy....altho ugh i looked for bp in springfield this weekend...do they have BP? I don't think i see one, does anyone else?

What show this weekend? Where? What show on the 27th?

South County Kennel Club, Inc. RI, there is also on the 26th too. Both the 26/27 are in RI. Also,...there is a springfield show this weekend...then next is RI..then springfield again, then RI again...then we are going to bucks and trenton in May.
