Peppy died this morning. We got Peppy and his sister, Precious in November. We thought Peppy was the runt and later suspected he was a dwarf. (http://heartofwisdom.com/images/dogs/pupsjan08a.jpg)
He was deaf and had liver problems, he was only half the size of his sister. Peppy weighed 30 lbs Precious weighs 65 lb.
We knew his time was limited. This week the vet gave him new meds but he wasn’t able to keep them down. I let Peppy in or out doors as he wanted. Much of the time we were outdoors with him we live on a farm with a lot of animals. He preferred outdoors with the other animals and becasue the weather was cool.
We have 20 acres with signs posted “Caution: Deaf Dog” He couldn’t come when called becasue he could not hear. I often had to go looking for him.
Yesterday, I found him in the barn unable to walk. I put him in a wagon and brought him up to the house. Peppy loves to ride in the our little red wagon (the trip from the barn to the house always wears him out). I tried keeping him inside but he cried to go out to his patio bed.
About 5am Precious woke my husband with unusual barking. Peppy had scooted from his bed to the hedges and was whining. I brought her inside and laid with him for an hour brushing him.
About 6:30 I woke the children to say goodbye. He didn’t whimper anymore. He enjoyed being petted. He just stopped breathing just before 7:00. I fel very blessed to have the special good bye time.
I don’t have any biblical evidence that we will see Peppy in heaven. But I believe we will.
I believe Peppy is in heaven and can now hear. Clara Scott pens a prayer in her hymn Open My Eyes, That I May See: “Open my ears, that I may hear voices of truth Thou sendest clear; and while the wave-notes fall on my ear, ev’rything false will disappear. Silently now I wait for Thee, ready, my God, Thy will to see; open my ears—illumine me, Spirit divine!”

Peppy was here a short time but he was a real blessing. He bought us much joy. He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss :'( :'( :'(
RIP sweet Peppy :'(

I'm so sorry to hear about Peppy. He was gorgeous and had a sweet face. Bless you for making his time here full of love, commitment and special care.
There may not be any biblical evidence that you will meet again in the afterlife, but I think that's only because God knew pet lovers would find that obvious. Anyone who has welcomed a pet into their lives knows there is a soul behind those eyes and everything with a soul meets us again in Heaven.

I'm so sorry to hear about Peppy. It sounds like he had a very full life nd was lucky to have had you and your family.

It's strange, I was just talking about you and Peppy and Precious to my mother the other day. I told her about Peppy's Dwarfism and how he's deaf, and what a wonderful loving home he'd found himself in, and the condition in which you found him and his sister. He was truley blessed to have found you and your family, and I believe that he was sent to you to teach you the things that only owning a Special Needs puppy can teach you. May you and your kids carry his memory forever. He was only here for a short time, but it was a time filled to it's fullest with love.
Rest in Peace baby boy. :-* :'(

I am so very sorry for your loss.
Don't Grieve For Me
Don`t greive too long for now I`m free
I`ve followed the path God set for me
I ran to Him when I heard His call
I swished my tail & left it all
I could not stay another day
To bark, to love, to romp or play
Games left unplayed must stay that was
I found such peace, it made my day
My parting has left you with a void
Please fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, you laugh, a kiss
Oh yes these things I to shall miss
Be not burdened with ties of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life`s been full, you have given me so much
Your time, you love & gentle touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don`t lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your head & share with me
God wanted me, He set me free!

Thank you so much for this beautiful poem.
My Grandmother passed this year. I hope Peppy and she are together.
I can't stop crying. Evey thing in the house smells like Peppy.
YOur thoughts and kind words are a great help.

There is a poem in the Rubaiyat that brought me comfort when I lost my best horse friend. She had been hit by a car and the surgery to save her leg ultimately failed. I can't recall it exactly but it was something like this:
"If the soul can fling the dust aside,
And naked on the air of heaven ride.
T'were it not a shame, t'were it not a shame,
For him in this clay body
crippled to abide?"
I know it will hurt for a long time but do try and think of him riding 'the air of heaven', whole and strong. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Ohhhh no, I'm so sorry! I've had a special place in my heart for little Peppy since the first time you posted about the puppies. It was clear that you really loved & appreciated that sweet little boy and it's very touching how Precious was watching out for him by alerting you. He was very blessed to have been part of your family & to have his sweet sister with him, too.
I so sorry for your recent losses. Two years ago we lost my grandmother, then Halley, our 3 y/o Pyr to bone cancer, and then our cat Bear, all in the same year and it was so hard. Though I feel very certain that our furry friends will be waiting for us in Heaven, we miss them so much now, don't we? You will be in my thoughts & prayers. :'(

I am very sorry to hear about Peppy. I have been following the posts regarding your two pups since you joined BPO - You did a wonderful thing by bringing home both pups, doing your research and making Peppy's short life the best it could be.
