Be careful when viewing the pictures, try not to scream!
So Jax went to a different rescue (Yaay!) so I was able to take on Roo. Found on the side of the road by a friend of one of my volunteers, Roo is severely malnurished, deformed, has demodex, and is full of parasites. He can not walk, but hops like a kangaroo. Hence the name Roo. So far the vets think nothing can be done about his front legs.
He is very, very loving and sweet, and quite active with his disability.

more pics.

oh he is soo cute...he will find a home fast after recoverey...th atis horrible about his front legs though..i don't understand why people do these things...this is why i hate people so much!!!
ps. how is cody?
-
aww poor sweetie.. i think he's absolutely beautiful. reminds me of my cousins cat she just adopted. he has 1 eye (born that way) , half a nose and lip pulls up so a tooth is exposed. the shelter volunteers said she couldn't possibly want him because he's ugly.. mr modo is the most gentle cat i've evee met.. kudos to you for taking him in!
-
Cody is doing great- I got to go and visit him the other day. His adoption is finalized, whoo hoo! I really need to update his site LOL
-
are his legs causing him pain?
-
Roo? Not that the vet thinks. He seems to have gotten used to his deformity.. like those weird twisty cats. He put him on painkillers just in case, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm going to call a specialist this week and see if we can get him an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon- maybe pins etc? I dont know. We'll see- its like his legs formed new joints.
-
He looks like a sweet boy. Perhaps even braces on them..i wonder if it could be from a nutrition issue... like a weird form of HOD???
-
Yes- we think it is nutritional
-
Poor Roo. I am glad you were able to save him. He does look like a sweetie! Somebody is just gonna love him up.

a friend of ours in WA state rescued a dobbie with front legs like that and the vet told her it was due to a lack essential nutrition in the puppy stage, especially calcium and other vital minerals.
She still has the old fart and aside from his front end being lower than his back, he his a happy(now) and well adjusted boy. He doesnt run fast or very far but it doesnt seem to bother him like he is in pain.
-
awww!! I officially LOVE him!
-
What a sweet looking boy....good to know he is in excellent hands!
Hugs and Slobbery kisses to the little guy on a speedy recovery!
-
Roo looks like a big lovey boy. There is a great home out there just waiting fo that special boy.
-
Some people make me sick.
THANK YOU for all you do for these poor souls.
Roo is now on his way!!!
What a sweetheart.
We have many problems at our SPCA with reserve dogs coming in
with mange, lice, fleas etc. They are primarily pitties, and soooooo sweet!
You're a very special lady!
Don't know if you know of this website, she has terrific info.
Could this be what Roo has (except more severe) ?

Oh my goodness Shawn, that just made me want to bawl my eyes out that poor baby. You are doing wonderful work, and I know that once this baby has recovered you will find him an amazing home that will love and take care of him to the end of his days. :'( :-* :)
-
Awwwe, that poor guy!
I've seen that condition before, it is indeed nutritional although I can't remember the name for it. And once it progresses so far it's not able to be corrected except maybe thru surgery.
But he does look like a sweetie, I'm sure he will find a wonderful home just right for him.

Well after some intesive searching online I think I've found the condition that he has. Called Carpal Subluxation Syndrome (CCS). I guess it can be caused by several problems, with genetics and diet being the main culprits.
Here is a couple of articles I found. There are other more technical ones but I chose these b/c they had pix:

Poor baby
I have a 5 year old english mastiff and he looked just like CODY, he had been passed around and beaten, starved and terribly mistreated when I adopted him, he wimpered and cryed the firts few times I feed him, this is him today a whole 200 lb. him, he is happy, healtht, beautiful and the best dog in the world, he is my sweetheart or as I call him HONEY BOY as his eyes are the color of honey and I can see his gentleness and sweetness in them.
Good luck with this angel and may the Lord bless for helping him.

Aw, he is so cute! ;) Bless you for saving him...and his poor little legs, hopefully something can be done (but if not) if he's able to live happily and pain-free like that in a loving home, he should be happy! ;)

While stumbling around here looking for info on Hydroma (and being introduced to Dog Legg's thanks to this wonderful forum), I began looking a the Dog Legg's website. After seeing the photo of your poor Roo, I wondered if this might help him at all:
