Hi Everyone!
Good News: WE'RE IN ESCROW!!! it's our FIRST HOME in beautiful Norco, CA.
Bad News: Are we going to have trouble getting home owners insurance because of Monty?
Since I'm new to this home buying thing...I thought I'd ask if anyone has had this come up? and what I can do...I don't want to pay an arm and a leg just because Michael Vick is an idiot...
Does he look like a liability to you?

hahahaha...I dont know anything about your question but just had to comment on that pic. That is sooo funny..He is really cute too. Is he xtra big or is it just the camera adding 10lbs? Or maybe the hunkering over position hes in!!

I don't know if this will help, but some professional dog trainers do "temperment testing". Have you inquired with the insurance company what documentation they would require to prove you have a "non-aggresive" dog. It may help to have it documented by a professional and your vet as well if he/she is willing. You will also have to have the required fenced area of course, then surely, you should be able to find someone to insure you.

nope, looks like an asset, he's fertilizing!! ;D

He's a little on the heavy side...After Lola passed away...we doted on him a little bit...but now that Roscoe is in his life...he's a little less potato and more chip I guess you can say...

He is seriously tooo cute! He looks like he would be so much fun.

Call state Farm.

Looks like a "boxer" to me..... are you sure he's a pitbull?
I think he has boxer in him...He has that pitbull head and body...(I know it doesn't look like it in the pic lol) He's really short, and he has the underbite...
I can't be sure what he is EXACTLY, I just know he looks bully enough for everyone to cross the street when we're walking towards them... :(

I have a lot of experience with this.
We own a lot of rental properties and are constantly dealing with this.
Yes, you will have problems. Just do not EVER say he is a pittbull when you call to get the insurance. Say he is a boxer. Just don't even bring it up. They won't ask for documentation. As long as you don't ever mention it.
We made the mistake (when we were renters waaaay back in the day) of putting Cabeza on our renters' insurance as a "Chow/Newfoundland mix". THey didnt want to insure the Chow. We now know better and always just say he is a "Newfoundland mix" When pressed, we will say he is "Newfoundland/Golden Retriever"
Just don't mention it. And never just say "mixed breed". Come up with something so that they won't give you problems.
By the way,he's beautiful!!! What a munch! haha!

Look at that beautiful "boxer/ beagal/ lab" mix you have . suuuuuure you do. lol ;)

To tell you the truth, I think he very much looks like part alapaha blue blooded bulldog, or even victorian bulldog.
Seriously, look up the alpaha's. They vary in looks alot, but your guy looks very similar to pix I've seen of them.
and since they are a pretty unknown breed, they won't be on any list (or at least they shouldn't be)
here's a couple of pix to compare:

We have rentals too and one is in CA. Farmer's Insurance doesn't have breed restrictions in CA. Farmer's does have breed restrictions in some other states, but not in CA yet. I just re-checked this a couple of weeks ago b/c we were in the process of re-renting the CA property & I needed to check for a potential tenant. I hope this helps. :) Good luck, he looks like a big sweetie. :-*
