Or in my case it is... A couple of days ago, I put Marty and Alex in the shower with me because they needed a bath, well last night I thought" Hey, I did it with Marty and Alex, I can do it with Maggie!" No No NO NO NO NOOOOO, it does not work like that!! Oh, Maggie was just to smart for her own good last night! She figured out once that if you push on the glass door with your nose, it'll open! I had to hold the door shut with one hand and wash her with the other, didn't work out to good. She got out 3 times and shook every time! I am never doing that again, to much for me. I had the nasty mess to clean up and frankly there just wasn't enough room for Maggie and I, in the shower. :P

I was at Kinkos the other day while I was at the cutting board there was a little mini-pinscher sleeping on the floor by the copier... fat chance you'll ever see Bear there!
-
My girls would be on the glass making copies of their stubbie tailed butts!
-
I got mad when I saw two mini-somethings in a purse in Longs the other day. They were walking through the isles shopping like this was the norm....I doubt you would ever see my 150 lb., hairy black, drooly dog shopping there with me huh?
-
I don't know, Jaime...could you find a purse to stick him in? ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
-
Harley used to try and sit on my lap when we are in the car, yeah she comfy but I'm not face face gets squished in her back and I can't breath! Thankfully now she is happy in the back with her head out the window. She is not a lap dog!!

I did think of just walking him in the sotre and making my point about the double standard but then figured it was too much work. I would loose and if I got real mad it could get ugly. I just hate the double standard...grr rr............ .
-
Stupid little rat dogs, think that they are better than us >:(

Oh, that drives me CRAZY! It always boils my blood that any dog small enough to be stuffed into a purse or a baby-carrier thing can go into a store, but my big dog can't.
I always imagine what it would be like if I walked in with Ranger strapped to my chest, legs dragging on the ground, me all stooped over from the weight. If anyone said anything to me, I would point at the little dogs and say "Well, if THEY can do it....." ;D
(My horribly Photo-shopped version of what it would look like!)
-
Thats awesome!!!! HAHAHAHAHA ;D
-
SO Let's try this. I'll train Lady to stand up and push a cart. I'll get in the cart with a giant diaper one and a binky in my mouth. She'll push me through the store as I pull a ton of stuff into the cart (just like I did to my mother) and then they'll have to let us in.
-
HAAAAAAAAAAAAA AA!
Too funny Grumpy! I LOVE IT
And Lin...the image of you, in a cart with a binky and a diaper being pushed by Lady.....WOOOH! Funny!
-
Me and Grace can sit in the cart and play. :)
-
Lins, that is hilarious! If you had a tantrum, would Lady give you a timeout?
Yes, my Photo-shop skills ARE amazing, aren't they? ;D You can all see I am sooooo busy at work today... ;D
You know what else you can't do with a big dog...? Let him act like a jerk. I know we have all discussed this before, but how come people think it is cute when a tiny dog snaps and growls and tries to kill everything in its path? We all know what would happen if OUR dogs acted like that....
-
Its totally obnoxious and a total double-standard.
-
Lady would just let me cry. She's good at blocking me out. :) Either that or she would push the cart into the parking lot and let an SUV crash into me...I bet I'd stop screaming then.
I take Lady and Grace to the pet store.
YEAH!! You're right! Aren' t poodles cute when they snarl and chew on your shoe strings and tug at your pant legs...and crack open like a bug when you step on them?
-
Nicole - it's size-ism!
Lins - that diaper is going to look gooooood with your S&M bra... ;D
I have been seeing this sticker or banner or ad or something on some of the pet adoption web sites that mentions that large dogs, especially black ones, are the least likely to be adopted out. It says something like - Think Big! Adopt Big! We need our own BPO advocacy sticker that says something like "Bigger is Better" or "It Isn't Bad to be Big" or whatever. Ya know, for when the man is trying to keep us down! ;D
-
PERFECT! That sums it up beautifully.
-
Lins,
When you go shopping with the girls, PLEASE call me. I'll make the three hour trip up there, just to take the photo of the year picture and post it here.
My son used to go to a nieghborhood private school and I used to walk the dogs there every afternoon to pick him up(he was in kindergarden)
My dogs would lay at my feet and wait, not move until we started to walk back. Another lady would bring her Yorkie(mop with feet), unleashed and running wild, and kids would chase it and it would turn and snap at them. I had told the lady that she needed to control her dog, someone was going to get hurt, but she stuck her nose in the air and asked what I was going to do about it. I told her nothing, unless that thing bites my kid, or my nieghbor's kid, then I'll wring it's neck like a chicken and hand it back to you.
Predictibly, there was a child bitten and all dogs were banned from the school property. One idiot can so ruin it for everyone else.

Man you're on a roll today!
-
You mean like a BPO "Size Matters" sticker??? hehe Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Love it!
-
I'll let you know when we take the girls to the store. I'll grab the camera on the way out the door. :)
-
We should all pick one store (national chain) and enter it with our big dogs at the same time. I wonder how much people would freak out then. All Big Pawed dogs in the store at once. Who could resist that?

I'd vote for Willam-Sonoma or Kitchen Kaboodle...... ........
-
OH man....can you imagine us in a kitchen store? Lots crashes and bangs and breakage. :) ;D

Oh man, that made me laugh. An evil laugh. Mwuuuuhahahaha hahaha!!!
Well, it's either that or a Butcher shop.......... ..........
-
Oh I am doing it, people. I am putting Ranger in that strap-on baby-carrier thing I Photo-shopped earlier and hitting the stemware at Williams Sonoma with his legs flailing around and drool flying!

OSHA approved shoes and eyewear for both of you, and Have Fun

My dad used to carry me in one of those at the zoo. The monkeys would pinch my toes...and I think I may have kicked him in the whoo hooo once.
-
Bava? who's the cute puppy!? :)
-
Bava probably weighs 40 pounds now, I can still pick him up and carry him. I should get one of those baby snugli's and carry him around :) Any weird looks and I can say What? my kid is cute! He can't help it if he's hairy and has a tongue that looks like bubble tape gum :)
OK, first of all - I didn't see what you said about the bubble gum tape and just wrote a whole bunch about that and had to delete it! ;D Secondly, he is the cutest thing ever and must be sent to me for hugs and kisses. I promise I will send him back when I am done with him. I say if you can stuff him into a Snugli and get away with it - go for it! I am only half kidding about devising some cunning plan to strap Ranger to me...
Lucysdad - I will probably go with a hard hat too. Safety first.
Lins - I think you mean the "petterniklas", at least according to Marit. I still maintain that it is called the winkie. ;D
-
he looks so cuddly.
Happy Birthday big fella!!!!!!

According to the folks at MG that's "Safety Fast", seems appropriate here too........... .....

Well, you know you are going to need these types of items too, for when you strap Lucy to your chest for your trips to the store.... ;D I'll be over at Melissakins house, loving on Bava, but let us know if you need any fashion advice, i.e. does a black hard hat clash with brown OSHA approved shoes...? ;D
Your avatar made me think of another thing that people with big dogs can't do. Let them ride on our laps while we are driving. It makes me crazy when I see people driving with little dogs on their laps with the dog hanging out the window.
Not only do I wonder how the people can steer and watch the road and avoid an accident, etc., with a dog on their laps, I am also scared the doggy is going to go flying the next time they have to brake hard! :(

I was at Walmart one time & a couple & their adult daughter came in carrying a towel & a rat sized pooch...They put the towel in the cart & deposited the dog onto it & proceeded to walk into the store...The Walmart greeter dude told them they couldn't bring the dog in & they brushed pass him saying it's way to cold for Shnookums (or whatever the dog's name was) out in the car & in they went leaving the greeter dude standing there with his mouth hanging open...Jerks! >:(

LOL Kook!...I can see you there just fuming!...I would have been miffed too!...My latest brainstorm involves passing Samson & Pippin off as therapy dogs...I REALLY want to take them places they shouldn't be...It is becoming a mini obssesion...lo l!

I was in the grocery store one day and in one aisle saw a lady with a poodle sitting in the front of her cart, leash clipped to the metal on the side. In the GROCERY store?! Can you imagine if I walked in with my 18 month old Doberman, asked the cart wrangler kid to help me and together lift him into the back of the cart and proceed to shop? That would never happen!
Although I also own two small dogs and can honestly say that both would have been hanging from their leashes on the side of the cart as they would constantly lunge for the shelves of yummy people food. Not to mention that no one would know what muzak was playing in the store as my pug's high pitched screams of excitement at seeing all the people would be heard for miles! It never amazes me that I can keep the Doberman quiet but not the pug.

My favorite uncle collects MG's...I think he has 8 now...Cool cars!

I saw on the News that apartments or Condo that have a no dog allowed rule have to accept someone who has a dog if they are needed to maintain that person's mental stability. So...next time you just tell them that they are required by law to permit you and the dog inside or else you will crazy and snap. ;D

I saw this just last night at the grocery store near us. I kept saying to my fiance' "If they can do that with their dog, I can do that with Ranger, right? He would stay in the cart and be good, right?" All I got back was the look that says "You are crazy, but I am not crazy enough to mention it...".

I was walking Tenchi downtown Saturday night and came upon a similar thing. In the 5 & 10 store window was a sign that said "CARRIED PETS ALLOWED INSIDE ONLY". My daughter read it and said how unfair that was. Then she wondered if Tenchi would be allowed if I carried him in. ;) hahaha The mental image of that is just TOO funny.

Having MGs (since '82) was pretty good traing for having Lucy. Same sort of public specticle, stupid questions, stupid comments...... .. and they both get lot's of smiles, and "My (insert relative/neighbor/etc) had a.........." stories. Put both together and things can get a little out of hand, but in a good way........... .....
As soon as I'm on better terms with the scanner I'll post some older pics of Lucy in the Midget, at the beach, the park, etc.......
-
I am very lucky and live in the dog friendliest town imaginable.... It is a section of long beach, CA called Belmont Shore. You can't go anywhere without seeing doggies of all sizes. They walk up and down the main drag with there humans, and are allowed to sit at almost all restaurants if they have outdoor seating. The biggest surprise though is how many of the stores let pups in. I was in the Banana Republic there and there were at least 5 dogs in there and some were pretty huge. They even have treates that they give to well behaved dogs!! I really had never seen anything like it.
-
A woman who lives here in Halifax has a website that tells of all of the different stores in the city that are dog friendly. She is truely the most dog devoted person that I have ever talked to, she even boycotts stores that will not let dogs in (unless health restrictions dictate that dogs are unwelcome).
-
Hahaha! you are all just too funny :D and have been so entertaining. Love the comments and can relate to the big dog comments.
I've had 2 danes, Lady and Katie and an Irish Wolfhound, Samson and a Neapolitan Mastiff, Broducci and a Chow Chow, Brutus. My children grew up with big dogs, my grandchildren are growing up with big dogs and we all think small toy dogs are annoying.
