Tyler has God and angels watching over her! She came home from a party tonight and as she got to the front door, she said she stepped on something.
She rang the doorbell and walked in the house. As soon as she did, she heard a loud clicking rattle and turns on the outside light and sees a RATTLESNAKE on our porch! She is so fortunate that it didnt bite her.
Excuse the quality of the pic's, I was not about to open the door to get a better shot and also, Gunner , our mastiff puppy is a window licker so excuse how nasty it looks.
Earlier this year Logan, my oldest and son, almost stepped on a scorpion in our spare room.

omg what did you guys end up doing? just let him/her go on its way? ??? scary :-\ :o

A friend of ours who has knowledge and experience handling poisonous snakes came over and took it away. I have no clue what his plans are for it, nor do I really care.
That was entirely to close of a call for me.
He also came over and took care of the scorpion too. We call Jeff our personal cootie buster...lol!

WTF!?!?! I would have had a heart attack. Where do you live? I lived in Hawaii for a couple years and my good friend got stung by a scorpian on his "buttocks" :) He got out of hte shower and pulled his shorts on and the scorpian had been inside the shorts. Talk about a shocker! But man - you've had more than enough scares - time to move! Thank God she is okay!

Wow! It looks like a big ol' snake!! How frightening!

Wow. I am so glad your daughter is ok but how exciting that would be to catch!! We went to Arizona last summer and caught a western diamondback, about 3 ft long, the first day out! I cant believe you have them in Wichta Falls..Amazing!!

:o See an people wonder why I live in the north and deal with the -40 winters, no poisonous bitting things, so fleas, no tics these are the reasons.
-
Where do you live?
We live in wichita Falls, Texas. Hot, dry hicksville.

Lori,
I was told that there are two types that are indigenous to this area. The AC officer showed us the one he had in his truck. It was the size of a medium garter snake and it was full grown. He called it a Massasauga rattlesnake.
What was on our porch was either a prarie or diamondback rattlesnake.

by the pattern it seems to be a diamondback , unfortunately the striped tail is not a way to tell since prairies have it as well. either way he is a beautiful snake!!!
