: UGH can my life go anymore downhill?!
: dober_gurl December 13, 2008, 08:21:06 PM
Sorry but I just need to vent.

My life has not been good lately, well for a quite a few years now but that's another story, I seriously just want to murder someone right now.

A couple of days ago someone e-mailed my boss anonymously accusing me and this guy manager at the movie theatre of dating and having intercourse in the booth(upstairs where we start the movies). Because the nitwit didn't know what they were doing they e-mailed it to everyone, including corporate. Regardless corporate would have found out anyways but my boss's boss was not happy at all about it. Me, the guy, and another guy who in the e-mail apparently caught us doing it had to fill out statements saying this never happened. However this still has to go through corporate and the whole thing and then my boss's boss will come out and interview us and we'll find out if we're fired or not. Fun right?

Then today I get a bill from the hospital apparently I've been cut off medicaid so now I have a huge bill to pay when I got absolutely no help while I was there. I was treated like crap, I didn't get a proper diagnosis, and of course I was stuck there for nearly 4 hours waiting in a room by myself. I'm absolutely livid about this and I really don't know what to do at all about it except pay the bill which is apparently due on the 26th of this month and I'm getting no help what so ever from my parents... figures.

And to top it all off. I was closing tonight with another 19 year old girl and when we were getting ready to walk out the doors(me and her being the only ones left there) some SUV pulls up, a guy jumps out and starts banging and screaming for us to let him in. We absolutely flipped out and didn't know what to do at all. We ended up hiding in the office and peeking out every once in awhile to see if they were gone. He was continuously banging on the door and screaming for us to let him in for almost a half hour before he finally left and right as he left we had decided we were going to call the police too, I don't know why we didn't. The scarier part of the situation was that while the doors were locked one was not closed all the way, we found this out as we were putting the security code in and were just about to go close it and leave when they came. Finally after they left we hauled a*s for her car and did our best to leave as fast as we possibly could. I'm still really shaken up about it because I have no idea what they wanted. It's really a scary, scary thing to think about what could have happened. UGH could anything else have made my week better?!

Seriously though why?

That email is slander at the minimum and harrassment easily. You absolutely need to press your boss to investigate this on your behalf. Create a stink - and create it immediately, in my opinion (but I've always been a pot-stirrer). Wrong is wrong and, email is NOT anonymous. You need to tell your boss how you feel "harrassed" (and definitely use that specific word because he will sit up and listen) by this accusation and how you understand he had to follow up, but you want to know that the person who falsely accused you is going to be brought to justice as well. Tell them that, if they don't do anything, you are prepared to file harrassment charges and talk to a lawyer. That will get the ball rolling.

Second, I know when you're scared it's hard to think clearly so don't beat yourself up for not calling the police right away. You know you'll be on the phone in 2 seconds next time. I would have peed my pants if that happened to me at your age so I think you handled yourself very well. However, you may want to request to close with a guy for the next few shifts or don't be afraid or embarrassed to call the police and ask them to escort you to your car. That's what they are there for. I've done that before when closing late a Starbucks and there was a strange car in the parking lot with people in it we didn't know. Be safe - their are loads of oogy people out there.

It will get better - and keep venting to us. We love you.

I totally agree with this. Been stirring the pot since my 1st job at 16, and it's always paid off in the long run. It's hard to stand up for yourself at first but it harder to look back and know you didn't. For me anyways!

Unfortunately work comes with tears occasionally.. . But chin up, it's a good time to learn how to take the bull by the horns!  :)

The girls are right about all of it. I know from years of experience that when things start to pile on like that it's hard to keep you head above water but you will get through it but you will, just have faith and be proactive on these issues and you will be OK.

I knew things would work out. Now, make sure that stupid-head that sent the email gets what's coming to him (within the boundaries of the law or company policy, of course).
