Sorry it took so long but here are a few picts of Ellie. Tim and I agree the name just doesn't fix but we are drawing a blank as to what to name her. Ellie fits for now, but not sure if it will when she gets big. Below are a list of possibilities that did not get crossed off the list but I would like to get an id tag and start practicing her recall. We spent most of the day outside together and she follows Tink around like she is her mom, it was so cute. Tink even surrender her dog bed to her for a nap.(see below). She kept bringing Ellie toys trying to get her to play but she was tooo pooped to play. She is small for her litter, the runt at 40 lbs, her big brother was 50+ and the rest fell in between. From what I gather their mother was a saint, less than a year old and she had 6 pups total. The were all locked in a 8x8 shed and fed once a day. It was a survival of the fitest, so she probably didn't always get her share. She has some big paws though so I am sure she will fill them out. She is calm, docile and just adorable. Her hair is super thick, wavy and feels like rabbit fur. Any suggestions on names would be appreciated. Here is what we have so far. I want something cute that fits her personaliy, but not too froo froo and is easy to recall. One or two syllables.
Shy - because she is so shy, but that is chaning rapidly
Cinders - because of her coloring and my best friend Cinda
Destin - one of our favorite places to vacation
Marley - I love it, it fits, but will soon be over done
Annie - for little orphan
Zoe - but Tim hates it
Ellie - because it fits for now

P.S. She has taken to her crate well. 48 hours and no accidents. - Yeah!
Newfy/ Saint owners - where do you think she falls in growth wise. She is estimated at 14 weeks (still has all her baby teeth)but her big brother was over 10 lbs heavier. Does she have some catching up to do or is she right on track?

Oh one more thing. When we were outside yesterday, the kids next door were riding skooters up and down the driveway and Ellie went up to our side of the creek and started barking! She was defending her new home from the evil contraptions! She has an impressive deep bark for such a little girl. I was so proud. I think she knows she is home!

She is so precious, what a lovely girl. I too vote Cinders, unusual and pretty.
-
Congratulation s, she's beautiful!! Too many factors to make a guess on how big she will be. Was Mom big? Was Dad? Mom's extreme youth could possibly affect the litter's potential as well. According to an old (like from the 50's) weight chart I have, a 14 week old female should be around 42 pounds. This is fairly light for today's standard but your girl also has the Newf genes to consider as well. They may "lighten" her a bit :) Many times being born the runt of the litter doesn't mean staying small. "Good Girl", Tink, for being such a sweet, generous, big sister! How about Bell(e)(a), for a name? Then when you call the girls all you have to say is "Tink a Belle, come"!! :)
-
I think she is just lovely! I'm glad Tink has a new baby sister. I like Cinders, and I also like Damaged's suggestion of Belle! Keep posting pictures, and we need new ones of Tink, as well! :D :D :D :D

Such a cutie! She sounds good, weight wise. My bubs were 50 and 55 at 4 months. Syrus has always been heavier by 5 to 7 pounds.
Cinders is my vote, not only because of coloring but because of her beginning conditions, you know, Cinders-rella.
But Damages suggestion of Belle is awfully good. :D

Here are some updated picts on Tink too.
-
P.S. She snores like a pig snorts.
-
She's adorable! I'm gonna be the odd man out here and vote for Destin. Fun name and easy to call when you want her to come!
I agree she's right on track when you compare her to Newf puppies.
Snoring already? That sounds like a Newf!

Maybe because I'm going to be a grandma in about 4 months, but every time I see the word Destin I immediately think of Desitin. :D

Congrats! She's precious and beautiful, just like sister Tink. And Tink sounds like she agrees with your decision.
I like the names:
I second... Destin (her "Destin-y" to be with your family)
Annie (had a relative that had a dog named Annie... a major sweetheart)
-
She's so cute! I think her weight is right on track like the others said, I wouldn't worry about it too much; male Saints can be substantially heavier than females. And the snorting definitely sounds like a Saint too! lol!
I kind of like Shy, but could you lengthen it maybe and add something; like Shyla, or Shyanne, or Shylee, Shya? Just some ideas!
Congrats on the new addition! So glad Tink likes her so well too!
-
Awwwe, she is too cute! And how nice of Tink to want to be so social already.
I like the name Cinders as well.......... ..but would probably leave off the "s" myself. ;)
-
I like the name Ellie and our past Ellie (we all know and love)would be proud to have such a cutie as a name sake!!
-
We still can't decide. I was leaning toward Cinder this weekend but I think I really like Shy.
I like MeToo, because she follows Tink around like her shadow and has to investigate everything she does. She is truly a little sister but again Tim doesn't like it.
I am not sure what he is waiting for, some perfect name to drop out of the sky or something. He is shooting them all down but not offering any suggestions. - MEN!
I am going to give it another day and then we must decide.
We are still open for suggestions if anything comes to mind.

You can always do what I did with Gunther.
I made a list with about 10-12 names on it, handed it to hubby and let him pick one out. The list was made up of names I had chosen and liked so we would both be happy. And he was forced to pick a name so there would be no arguements.... ........and for me it let him be involved in my choice to get another dog (which he wasn't really on board for)
However, he vetoed my first 2 choices right away. :P :P Gunther was one of my lesser names on the list but it's really grown on me and it suits him to a T. ;)

I talked to Tim at lunch, apparently both dogs were digging meteor pits in the flower bed today (he wasn't watching them)
So now he wants to call her Kubota because she digs like a back hoe. Good grief - boys!
He says he likes Tonka too.
I reminded him she was a girl but he doesn't care.
-
I love Willow too. That was another one he shot down.
Both dogs love to sit under our Willow tree. I really wanted to name Tink - Willow but it didn't happen.
He has tonight to come up with something or pick one of mine. I will let you know tomorrow.
Thanks guys, keep them coming!

He says he likes Tonka too.
How about Totonka from "Dances With Wolves" movie, which meant buffalo. She may be the size of a buffalo when she is done growing. :D

What about "Wendy", to go along with "Tink"? Keep that vague Peter Pan theme going. Or Nana, who was the Newf nursmaid in the book (and a St. in the cartoon, so it's kind of perfect).
I second Nana! Cute idea to keep with the Peter Pan theme, and Tink and Nana are kind of the more background characters, well Tink sorta is! Cute!
