Just wanted to say hello. I am proud to be owned by 14 wk old Sam. He is just so great. I was going to say good but sometimes he is bad/good. ;) I love all your great stories and information. I have owned or been owned by big dogs all my life but this is my first Pyr. He is an experience. Can't wait to cont. to hear about all your great dog/kids.

Hi Chris!  Welcome to BPO!

Pyrs are certainly a unique breed, aren't they?  You'll get lots of info about them here!

Welcome to the life of a Pyr owner. I fostered for an all breed rescue, so I ended up with a lot of dog experience (about 40 dogs in 3 years). I'm actually a cat person.  That's why the only dogs I've owned have been Pyrs. They can be very independent, aloft one minute and cuddling the next.  Training them takes as much patience as training a cat.  And of course, here in Southern California, the fur is always an issue. But I can't talk myself into any other breed. I like the independence, and they are mellow and loyal.  I like my dogs the way I like my men . . . big, long-haired and floppy-eared  ;)
