Hi again!
Well, I just adopted my dog about a month ago. LOVE HIM. However, I also just got diagnosed w/cancer (totally unexpectedly) and will be facing major surgery soon. I live alone. How will I take care of my dog when I first get home? Should I board him out for the first week? Maybe get a doggie sitter once a day to walk him? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I think a doggie sitter if you have one in your area would be a good idea. That way your pup still gets to be with you. I would also let the sitter come and visit to get to know your dog before your surgery. Best of luck to you and your upcoming surgery. Will keep fingers & paws crossed!

don't know the full extent of surgery, yet, but it will be quite major...and him just lying against me probably won't be a good. i will miss him if I board him, but, it might be best for my recovery. :P

I agree with Jenn also. When I'm feeling crappy, especially after a surgery, I don't want anyone around. I just want to be left alone for a bit, even by my pups (I know that's horrible).
Good luck, prayers coming your way for a speedy recovery.
