: New here and Pic of my Pup
: BabsT April 14, 2005, 01:00:31 PM
Hi,

I am new here and this is my boy Zero.  He is a 5 month old Central Asian Ovcharka (CAO)  I dont know how much he weighs anymore but I am guessing at least 80 lbs if not more.  They are a rare breed and cousin to the Caucasian Ovcharka (CO)

Look forward to chatting with everyone.

Welcome to the Big Paws board!  You have a beautful dog, of whose breed I have never heard.  I will be educating myself about them, which I always enjoy.  Hope to be hearing from you again, Marcia P. and the Bonnie Collies

Welcome to you and you're beautiful boy!
Since I think most of us aren't familier with the breed, is there anything you can tell us about him?  He looks very sweet!

Well my guy is only a baby six months now and I have a lot of testing to do with him before he will or can be studded out...and then if will be to select females.  Who are your dogs out of?  Do you have any pics?

Thanks for the compliments  :)

Hmm...This breed is very defensive and have little prey drive...He is 90+ lbs now...got weighed in at 86 lbs 3 weeks ago.  He is very tolerant and calm around his family but  aloof and indifferent toward strangers.  They are an old breed (over 4,000yrs) and they were classified as a flock guardian...In actuality my breed guards more of the perimeter or travleing nomands vs. an Anatolian or Great Pyr that would stay within the flock
