: Really Dry Paws!
: SwissysRock September 08, 2005, 09:28:14 AM
Hi All,

Need some advice.  Riley's paws are REAAAAAAAALLLY dry.  Is that normal?  Is it bad?  I mean like sand-paper dry.  If its not normal, what can I do to soften them up?   ???

Bag balm works, but now I use a non-petroleum based product I make.

You can always make your own if you want!

Bag balm is good. Also, I recently bought a paw protector wax that I just got because I wanted to see if it helped with slipping, but it also made zoey's pads really soft

I saw that paw stuff on tv Heather and thought of getting it because Bear has horribly dry paws too! I have a question though- Does it make the paws more tender when they are outside and it is hot?

This is the paw wax that I have for Zoey: link (http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441809753&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023689&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302026151&bmUID=1126293916171)

It helped with the slipping a little, but not really enough to make me perfectly happy. It helped for a couple hours - it was funny because as she walked around, I could hear the wax against the wood floors. She has fumbled with the wax on, but at least she hasn't had a major spill with it on.

When I put it on one night her paws felt softer for like a week after that. I am not sure if it would affect their heat sensitivity. I would think if you use it too often it would be bad, but if you only use is it only every once in awhile I think it could be good.
