: Heading to the beach - What's your favorite cocktail???
: Rocky's 'Rents September 08, 2005, 09:53:48 PM
By this time tomorrow I should be at Marguarittavil le(sp) sipping PinaColoda's at Myrtle Beach. I feel a little guilty looking forward to this with all the tragedy we've seen the past 2 weeks but that is part of the reason I need this vacation so bad!! So I shall have a drink in all of your honors, just let me know your favorite and I'll try it!!! :D

Flaming Dr Pepper because 1) there's an elaborate set up to it, 2) the set up includes setting stuff on fire, 3) it tastes just like Dr Pepper, but gets you buzzed as h*ll!  Unfortunately, in most bars here it's illegal. I should say in ALL bars its illegal, just most of them don't do it, the cool ones still do.

Well Ang, guess it should be illegal if you burn the bar down.  Oh well you could go out happy.  What a kick, how do they make the flames?
Hey forget your troubles and have a great vacation rocky.

Up here those are called Bullsh#$$ers.  Some of the names of the drinks people ask me to make apaul me!  LOL.  We do not flame any more.  Insurance reasons.  But to flame you need alcohol 151 or everclear, or other high alcohol content, or Sugar.
We used to make a cuban drink and would burn the sugar around the rim like a margarita has salt, only this was with sugar.  Gorgeous really.  Gosh I miss the good ole days when you could really have fun as a mixologist!!

Me?  Just a wee bit of red wine (Pinot Noir, Chianti, Cabernet Sauvignon etc), with a bit of gouda, watching a sunset and I'm just okay dokey!

But if you are into trying drinks, try a Midori Colada
Tropical Lifesavor
Irish Raspberry blended
LOL
Cosmopolitan

Kick back, put your feet up and have a Long Island Iced Tea for me. It tastes like liptons tea with a touch of lemon and kicks like a mule. If you decide to have more than one, try not to fall off the chair.

Pretty fire!!!!!  They make a pyramid (They won't tell me what's in it because they were afraid I'd do it at home) of these shot glasses with a special mix.  They'd set the top one of fire and knock it over, which would ignite all the other ones.  It was so FREAKING COOL!!!!!!

Have Fun!!! My personal fav is a Ketel One Gibson, straight up with extra onions.  Mmmmm!  So smooth!  But for mixers I usually get a Long Beach Iced Tea (cranberry juice instead of coke) or a Salty Dog (grapefruit+vodka+salted rim).  Always nice, especially with ruby red juice.  A good rule of thumb to remember when drinking cocktails, especially in larger amounts, is to use juice instead of carbonated mixers.  The carbonation opens up the Pyloric valve in your stomach and the alcohol gets into your system faster, thus you get drunk faster than you might have wanted to.  Just a little bartender knowledge I picked up while I was one in college.  Enjoy Myrtle Beach, Cheers!  ;D ;D ;D

Long Islands used to be my drink but now i go for Long Beach Iced Teas instead.  Basically the same but instead of the cola you put cranberry!!! I also enjoy a good mojito these days, and red wine is always wonderful.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Vanilla Vodka and Coke is another fav and very popular.  Watermelon Margaritas at Chevy's (with their intensely addictive salsa and chips) are to die for as well.  But you know, as much as I like cocktails, there's something to be said for an ice cold Budweiser, Asahi or Czechvar served in a frozen glass after a hard days work in the sun.  Honestly, I can't think of another drink that illicits that heart felt "aaahhh!" after that first swallow.  I know Drake agrees!  8)

Oh Man, you make your own beer?  I want to make my own beer so badly.  I have the fermentation buckets and everything, I'm just not sure how to start.  Any suggestions?  There's only one HomeBrew shop here in the Bay Area and it's in San Fran.  Not very convenient...

It's the easiest thing in the world, if you can boil water you can make beer.  Just order an extract kit and make it, Almost all of them include the directions to make it.  You will need A 20qt stainless pot to boil the wort, a long spoon, some bleach to sterilize everything, some bottles (approx 50-60), a capper, and some caps, unless you are setup to keg.
I will never bottle beer again, washing all the bottles is a pain.  I'll send you some links for good places to order from and how-to's online.
I mostly order from www.austinhome brewing.com and www.northernbr ewer.com All of their kits include priming sugar, yeast,

You'll be glad you started when you do.. the beer taste better than anything you can buy and cost about what milwaukee best costs to make.

COOL!  I'll have to check that stuff out.  I'll probably start with bottles, but once I get my bar built in the basement, I'll graduate to kegs I'm sure.

Gotta go with a Boat Drink - Jimmy Buffett wrote a song about 'em - Dum and tonic with lime is all it is... if I'm somewhere where they can make 'em a Mojito is always great.  But if you are feeling lazy, just open a nice bottle of wine and wander down to the beach with a glass... nothing's better.  Enjoy your rest!

Mix it up and pour over crushed ice

"Old Fashion"
Harry Trumans' drink of choice.
Recipe:
1-2 tsp Sugar
Dash or two of Angostura Bitters (depends on amount of sugar)
Splash of Soda
Stir until Sugar mostly dissolved
Fill glass with Ice
Add Whiskey to almost top of glass (Wild Turkey is best)
Garnish with Cherry and slice of Orange
Finish filling glass with Soda
Enjoy!
This is a great before 'dinner' drink, gets the gastric juices flowing!
And the steak tastes great!

Well I'm back. We had a great hurricaine party waiting to see what Ophelia was going to do, She blew a little and rained alot but no problems.  Now I couldn't try all of your suggestions but I did ok!!! In no particular order, Captain and coke, Vanilla rum and coke, Pina Coloda, Creamsicle, Strawberry Daquiri, Traditional Margurita(my new favorite) and a few MGD's.  It was a great week but now I need to rest. :o

"It was a great weekend, and now I need to rest!"
Rest what?
The greatest cure for a hangover is to stay drunk!
Don't look back, those demons are gaining on you!
On a more serious note, Glad you had a good time, and Ophelia only gave you a 'minor' blowjob!
That's  all I have for the innuendos.
Anyone else want to step up to the plate?
