I'll be thinking of Judge...Pippin was kind of goofy acting for a couple of days & still isn't quite right...We called off on his first obidience class this evening. :( We'll start next week instead...I hope the big snip alleviates some of your problems with Judge! :)

Well Judge is at the vet. It was soooooo hard to leave him there. :'( :'( Olivia (3year old skin baby) told me to" Go get my Judgie"She is quite upset that he has to spend the night at the Hospital. :'( Ill let you know how it goes.

I hope all goes well...so far zero doesnt mark in the house so he will stay intact...my female is not spayed yet either but she will be, just waiting for her to grow up a bit...I may let her go through the first heat and have zero stay at my moms or something...I will see how it goes, too hard to tell
I hope your boy a speedy recovery... :)

Oh that poor boy!...Pippin was fixed last Monday & I had to take him back Sat. because he just wasn't comfortable & was licking too much...He either had a reaction to the betadine or had some clipper burn...They gave him some pills with a mild antibiotic & prednasone...H e is back to himself now...Give Judge a big hug from me! :)

I think Judge may have a bit of a fever. His nose feels fine but I noticed he feels quite hot. Is this normal?? Also, this may be a really silly question but Im sure you guys have heard it all. HEHEHE
Is his scrotum (how do you spell that?) supposed to be so swolen? Also, I always thought that they removed the testicales ( spell ??? ::) ) by the look of things he still has his ??? or is it like a vasectomy??
Coonie
-
Rocky looked swollen for a few days too. When a part of your body experiences trauma, fluid rushes there to protect it and start the healing and to fight off infection so that is normal. A slight fever is probably seen frequently but if it seems high or it persists, it might be the start of infection and you would need to call the vet.

Randy said the exact same thing about Pippin...about the vesectomy because it looked just as you are describing...T hat was last week...Now it's the size of a grape...lol!

Judges are the size of small base balls. :'( :'( My son said OMG that must hurt. I guess from a guys point of veiw.... He said it made him really sad though to see Judge with a BOOBOO.
SOOOO.... They do remove them??????
Coonie
-
Hmmmm. Maybe you went to the Beverly Hills vet who puts in fake ones so their owners can brag about their dogs? Judge could still walk about and be "manly"! OH! the fun of living in Southern Calif.!
Hope Judge is feeling better soon!!!

I think so Coonie...Pippi n was not THAT swollen...But he is younger than Judge too I think...Pippin is 7 months...That sounds rather sizeable...I hope the swelling has gone down by tomorrow.

Judge is feeling better this morning. He chased the cat. Good sign. He is still quite swolen though.
Would it be really wrong to post a picture? :-[ I want you guys to see how bad it looks.

I'm glad he's feeling better...I don't see any problem with posting a pic of his sore bits...This is a dog group after all & dogs get neautered & we, of coarse, have our concerns...Go ahead! :)
-
Ok Ill take your word for it.

I must say something here. I think it was really cruel to wait this long to get Judge fixed. I feel awfull and wish I would have done it when he was a puppy. I really didnt know it would look so bad. :'( My poor baby!!

Don't waste time beating yourself up over it!...Pippin was 7 months when we had him done...I'm not sure how old Judge is but many dogs get fixed when they are oldre than puppies...Anyw ay, WOW!...That does look sore!...Pippin had a reaction to the betadine used to prep the area for surgery & I had to take him back in but he didn't even look that sore!...Is Judge licking alot?...I hope soemone else who has had more experience in this area will look at the pics & chime in on whether it should be that red & swollen...Anyo ne?
-
OMG!!! Poor, poor Judge!!! Poor YOU, Coonie!! I can understand why you've been so worried!!! What does the vet say? Is it normal? I'm going to show that pic to darling husband because he wants to wait to get Chester clipped...and I think sooner would be better than later!!! Guess you can't use icepacks, huh......
-
OUCHIE! I would say that is not normal. I've seen many dogs after being neutered (I used to work at a vet clinic) and none ever looked like that. That has to be painful, poor Judge. I would definitely call your vet.
-
The swelling has went down a bit. I am going to call the vet in the morning though if it isnt any better by then. They told me that if it got any bigger or if it got redder to call but as bad as it looks it is better than yesterday. He is feeling a bit better. I want to cry every time I look at it though. Isnt it awfull??
Thanks so much for all the replies. I am going to start another post to see what everyone else thinks.
Judge sends big kisses for all his BPO friends!!! :-* :-*

Coonie,
I posted on the other thread as well, but a little more for you. Bandit (110 lb doberman) was 6 years old when he was nuetered because I had to take in his unnuetered sister when she was in full heat and had no way to separate them. I never intended to breed either one of them anyway.
Merlin was nuetered when he was three. He began to get aggressive towards other dogs and was marking his territory- better known as my living room. His incision dehised (split open) two days after the surgery because the vet I went to at that time didn't use stitches, only superglue. It probably worked great on mojos, or puppies, but not on 135 lb Great Danes! I took him to the ER vet and they used staples which worked fine.
In both cases, the swelling was minimal, no greater than that of the sacks before surgery, and never that inflamed. I would definetly call your vet.

Anyone hear how Judge is doing? I hope all ours concerns are unfounded, and they are just fine.

I had to laugh about your comment about the vasectomy, I said the same thing!!! When Gunner had his surgery at age 3, I fully expected him to come home without the "boys". He looked much like Judge, all swollen and sore. Don't worry, the worst part will be over soon, and it does shrink down to nothing. I know sometimes we make the decision later in the dogs life, but to anyone considering having their pup altered, it is WAY easier on a puppy! Rudy was done at three months, and we couldn't even tell any surgery was done. Give Judge a hug for all of us!
