Hi I'm new here.... I have a 5 month old named Herbie. Is it OK if he eats carrots?
-
Carrots are ok in moderation.
They are high in sugar and carbs tho, so moderation is the key here.
:D

Hi Herbamonster!
Welcome to BPO :)
Carrots are a fine treat for dogs; veggies are a good source of vitamins and minerals. There are some veggies toxic for dogs - like onions - but carrots are not on the no-no list.

My bad. Herbie IS adorable.

Herbie is beautiful! My crew love raw carrots, potatos, and green beans. No broccholi or cauliflower though. They also love apples, (They play with them like balls til they decide to eat them.LOL) peaches, nectarines and their favorite, banannas. They shell and eat peanuts and hardboiled eggs. I think moderation is the key here though, like Red said. They only get one of any of the above per day, as a treat while I am cooking supper for the human residents of the house.

Roxy loves carrots, but for all the wrong reasons! She likes to hold raw carrots between her front paws, then bites it and flings her head off to the side and spits out the bits of carrot into the grass...which is a pain to pick up! Roxy loves celery and broccoli too; for some reason, the act of destroying and shredding apart raw veggies is a thrill for her! Thank goodness she doesn't do this with cooked veggies!!

OMG he is sooooo cute...Carrots are a good thing. If you make them really cold they are great for teething.

Herbie is so adorable!!! Welcome aboard! I haven't gave carrots to Kiah yet. Maybe I'll have to try to see if she'll eat one.
