Jim still can't find a name for this big guy and he coems home tomorrow! He wants something authoritative (Read: Tough), and it would be cool if it was German or Irish. I keep finding all these puppy name sites, but he doesn't have the internet, so me picking what I think he would like is a pain in the butt. I have these so far (Name, Language, and Meaning)
Aidan - Middle English, Gaelic help, little fire
Alger - Old German noble warrior
Baldwin - German bold friend
Bane - Hawaiian long-awaited child
Bence - Hungarian victor
Blaz - Old German unwavering protector
Brahnan - courageous one
Brontë - Greek thunder
Chale - Spanish strong and manly
Cort - Old German bold
Deo - Greek godlike
Farkas - Hungarian wolf
Any other suggestions would be immensely helpful. This is the little guy right here :)
-
I have no more suggestion but I really like Blaz
-

Naz for short.
Very masculine.

I know in a previous post, you said he would like a german general name. These are mostly first names.
How about:
Dietrich
Ferdinand
Reinhard or Reinhart
Johann
Fabian
Heinrich...... ....which was one of the names I had on my list for Gunther
Friedrich
Keitel
Paulus
Rommel
Jurgen
Gustav
Joachim
Bruno
Otto
Fromm
Jacob
Baron......... ...another name I liked for Gunther
And of course, you can't go wrong with Gunther  ;D ;D ;D
There were alot more names, of course, but I don't want to overwhelm you. If you need any help pronouncing them correctly in german, let me know. They are a bit different than english pronounciation, although you probably already know that.  :)

Fark........Fa rk.....Fark... ......
People might get scared. ;D
He's super adorable.
I like the name "Shotse" or "Schotse". It is pronounced,,, "shot'-see".
It's German and I think the first spelling is correct - but not positive.
As a child, my mother's best friend, Emily, had a German Shepard named that. It means 'sweetheart'. He was such a good dog. Very intelligent. We could all sit in the living room and his mum would talk to us - and never even change her voice (this is true) - and say something like, "Shotse, please get my slippers." And up, he would jump and run to her bedroom and come back with the slippers. It was amazing.
She had him for a number of years - maybe 12, or more, and you never saw her without him. She was just a snip of a woman, very refined, proper and frail-looking, and he was a purebred German Shepard. That was in the days before dog-training was so popular and available. She taught him herself, just by instinct, I guess. He never pulled or lunged when they walked. Sometimes, I think she frou-frou'ed him up a little too much for my tastes, but he didn't seem to mind. She sewed this little funny hats with a elastic band that went under his chin to hold them on. He wore them with pride. He sat in the passenger seat just like another person would have. No licking the window or flopping around. He sat up and behaved. I think the whole town loved him.
When Shotse died, following a quick, but deadly illness, Emily, his mum, wasn't the same. You could just see the hole in her life - it was that big.
She was not as social - she didn't seem to smile as much. She was offered new pups - but turned them down. I think it was about a year and a half later that she, herself, died. I don't remember what she died of.....but I remember my mother telling me that she died of a broken heart.
Shotse - it's a darned good name.
-
Okay, that story made me cry at work.
Shotse is a great name.
-
My first dog was named Shotzie ;D!!! I had never heard it used again, I love that name!!

I'll give these to him today. His brother is pushing for him to name the puppy "Boo" , which his GF and I personally think is stupid, and he was calling him Boo all last night, luckily the puppy didn't respond to it at all. :P I'll post pics as soon as I can.
