I know nothing about Saint genetics.. but apparently both parents are purebred yet the puppies are totally mismarked.. some even black. ??? I think they are mixed.. the owners say otherwise.
What do you think??

As soon as I saw St. Bernard puppies as the title I had to look.. lol But no they are not being sold as registered.
So the color of them is possible. Although it's a major fault. They do look Saintish to me in the face after comparing young pics of Bubba but the mask the lighter ones have does look Mastiff.

I was thinking the same thing. The mom was gettin some extra lovin' on the down low, w/o dad or owners knowing.Â
Or they knew, but since they have both parent's on site (I'm guessing) they are hoping to fool people.

This is true,Do to Both Parent's could be full,Breed,Down the line they might not be,that is why you need paper's,there for these Dog;s are mixed,Breed,But Cute,,that is how it happen's if someone sell;s them with out paper,s they are getting a mixed puppie,!!This is how so many Mix Breed are Born,They are Great pet's It Would be better to know more about what Breed they are in order for someone to Adapt them!!! I emailed them back and asked for pics of both parents... Although your right.. If someone jumped the fence pics of the parents aren't going to help much.
I also did a search on English Mastiff puppies.. the tan pups look pretty close to a EM to me.. head and ear shape.. plus that mask.
The exact ad says "6 Purebred St.Bernard pups, not alot of markings"
In my email I also mentioned that they look like Saint/Mastiff crosses. Let's see what reply I get...

Last week, our neighbor after meeting Bava for the 1st time (6mo. Newf) told us he used to have a black saint bernard that was about the same size as Bava. We just didn't even comment.

I would say that they are not purebred. Some people will do anything for a buck.

I'm still waiting on their email back.. funny they got back to me so quickly before. :-\
That ad has been on there almost 2 weeks, I didn't even notice the date. And not one pup has been sold. So it looks like they are not fooling anyone.

Even if they're mixed or not even Saint's I think they're tooooo cute!! lol ;D ;D

Yeah they are very cute. I made the mistake of showing the pics so my SIL the one that may be getting the baby girl Saint. I think she has puppy fever too. LOL She likes female 3. She says well if I don't get approved for the Saint pup maybe..... I told her to wait and see if these people come clean about the breeding first. Why put money in dishonest peoples pockets right.
Plus who knows the breeder may decide her home is right for the real Saint pup she wants.

Even if you did buy one and somebody asked what kind they were and you said their St.Bernards they would look at you like you were on drugs or something.If I wanted a saint,I would darn well make sure he looked like one.See pic of Spotakiss

Me too!!! On one hand, I feel like if they DO know they're not the pups of both parents then its sucky to give them money for being lying pukes. On the other hand, its really not the pups fault, no matter what the people do or do not know.
Poor puppies ...
So true, I wish that they would just have they puppiest best interest at heart. But maybe they do, I don't want to bad mouth these people, as they puppies look very healthy and well cared for.... I just hope they all get good homes :)

Spotakiss is 11 months old and at 165.His dad was 220 , so we'll have to wait and see.

I still haven't heard anything back from them. I'm not saying they are purposely lying it's possibly that they did mated their 2 Saints... but maybe someone hopped the fence a few days before? But if she's outside.. and I think she is since the pups are outside.
What bothers me is that they are listing them as Purebred... even though just looking at them it's obvious. They are asking $300 a pup. Which to me is fine even for a mix. Adoption fees are usually about the same. But when people see Purebred Saint they are expecting to see puppies that resemble one.
My SIL doesn't care whether they look like Saints.. she loves the Saint personality and she hoping these pups take after the mom personality wise since we know mom is a Saint. Although she knows anything is possible. By the way she was denied for the purebred saint pup about an hour ago. The lady decided no apartments and that she required a fenced yard. :'( So she is truly thinking about going and seeing these pups. If she does I'll go with her... So I just might be puppy sitting one of these pups.

The only thing I can say is Good, luck too,,.>you and your sister,and I hope she get's a fence,yard,these Dog's need a place to run,that i know I Grew Up With Saint's All My Life,! That is Why After my Kid's Have Grown Up,We Have Missed Them And Have The Time To Enjoy Them,They Are So much I Call Them my Ohter Kid's!!!!Molly*MAGGie!!!they Grow so fast to so u know what i mean u have one,please take of it I'm sure you will,!! I showed my SIL Samantha an adult female Saint on petfinder that's I'm in total love with ;D ..and she told me her Chow/GS mix will not accept an adult female. Fur will fly she said.. So she couldn't rescue unless it was a pup and petfinder lists only adults no puppies. I don't think we have a local Saint rescue I can check either. I think it's way up north of me.
But anyway back on topic.. I haven't heard anything back yet on the puppies. :(

I absolutely agree about not giving money to dishonest people. Not only is it dishonest, but misrepresentin g something and claiming it is one thing when it isn't is also a crime...fraud!

One thing How do you know your Dog will get along with it if it is not a Saint? What is it?You to Look at your's and what peaple bring in know a Day's This is No Joke!!! My Sister in law has a 2 year old chow/GS. I never said the puppies were chow.. I have no idea what breed the puppies are mixed with and my sister in law wants a puppy. Not me. I will just be watching the puppy for her while she is at work.

Being a Saint girl myself, I'd have to say they're mixed. Can see a little saint in the face but saints always have white tip tails.

I got the pic of mom and dad.. they are definitely Saints. So either there was a wandering male fence jumper, or they just had some odd colored pups.

Waffles, thanks but my sister in law has decided not to get a puppy until after they move and get a fence put up. We are in Canada though, so might be a bit far.

Yes, the pups are cute..but what pup isn't, right???? BUT....
Those poor babies can't even pass for poorly bred "purebred" Saints....
How ridiculous and irresponsible of those people....to even advertise them as such.
Don't mean for that to sound elitist...but I take alot of pride in my breed and what is in my kennel. Years of prep. and forethought should go into breeding (sometimes even before the dogs are actually on the ground..LOL) This just irks me to no end.....
Maybe it is ME...but I cannot even begin to see HOW someone could possibly mistake those pups for purebreds??????????? Am I missing something?

If he doesn't know, I suspect if he introduces you to his wife and sister, there'll be just one woman standing there. ;D
It doesn't take an expert in canine genetics to work out that those puppies aren't all St Bernard and another dog got to mommy first.

Oh I definitely think they knew the truth. I added a reply to their classified ad.. and then they deleted it. They didn't email me back either.
At first they tried to tell me the reason the pups looks mastiff-y is because didn't you know Saints were crossed with Mastiffs way back when. LMAO ::)

well BOTH parents don't look 100% st. to me, to short, to light boned, not very heavy heads, and funny lookin' coats. color isn't everything. even the pups look way to small with tiny looking feet. cute pups, but 300$ for a "purebred"- nah. and anymore papers dont mean anything either, even puppy mill puppies come with AKC papers! i really wish the AKC was way more involved in verifing the breed standards in a pup BEFORE issuing papers. I have heard that the jack russel club in in fact doing this.
i'll stop ranting now...heehhee
