Ok so when I saw the post in the St. board about weigh it got me really thinking about what Titan weighs. He is 10 1/2 months old and only about 90 pounds. He seems healthy. Not skinny defiantly not fat. I have though he seemed small but I figured it was me. According to the chart for saint at his age one would be 120-123. I don't know of a newfie weight chart. I know I don't want him to get to big to fast but should I be feeding him more or what. He gets almost 10 cups of Purina One Large breed puppy which is what the breeder said to feed.
What did your pups weigh in at this point in there lives? No he isn't going to be a show dog but I want to do carting work and resume water work with him so size does kinda matter. Please let me know what you think. Thanks a bunch

Your puppy really doesnt need puppy food anymore...try a good quality kibble...As long as your dog is active, healthy (for breed) and isnt too thin...you should be fine...all dogs grow at different rates and sized...he will be what ever he is genitically meant to be :)
Some good kibbles are ..Innova, Chicken Soup for the dog lovers soul, canidae, california Natural, Eagle Pack and a few others

Titan is beautiful! Bear was the same weight around Titan's age. He was not skinny but not fat....kinda ugly if you ask me. ;D He is now 3 and weighs a healthy 155 lbs. Once he hit 100 lbs. it was very slow in packing on the extra pounds. He is not a big eater and is fairly active. I think Titan looks great and has a perfect weight for his age.

He looks perfect to me! Can you feel his ribs easily? If so, he's the perfect weight. Newfies shouldn't get too heavy too fast since their bones are so soft until they are about 18 months. Chester is 8 months and 84 lbs....and gets 4 cups of Eagle Pack Fish formula (2 in the morning, 2 in the evening). Titan really is a gorgeous Landseer!!!

Titan is beautiful! I always love seeing his photos. Sasha is pretty big for her age, I think. She's 10 months now and weighs 110 pounds. She's been about 110 for a month or so. I think they grow at different rates, and have big spurts. ;D

Slow growth is best.
hey i thought i heard not to feed young growing newfs the eagle fish, the other ealgel formula worked.
but for some reason the fish caused some growth problems.
anyway, lainey and billy are 18 weeks and 25 pounds, and i am so pleased, they are thin and i can feel the backbone, and they are growing PAINFULLY SLOW>
the slower the better.
i have them on Wysong growth, and when the teething begins they will be on one meal the bravo raw, than one meal the synorgen or growth until they hit about 12-18 months.
there is a lot to be said about dogs being individuals, and no one diet is perfect for a whole litter i have, there is one or two pups that require different diet, tinkering if you may, due to different growth patterns and higher demands on their body.

REALLY?? Fish formula Eagle Pack isn't good for growing puppies? I haven't heard that. He didn't do well on Proplan...but you like Wysong Growth? Is 8 months too old to be on puppy formula? He's 84 pounds and FULL of energy!

Yeah i was surprised but, the word was that the fish is good for adults but not growing pups, something about the calcium phos and calorie intake?
i would have to go dig thru that thread to find out.
as long as yours is fine dont worry, but if anyone is thinking of it, i would caution them, just becouse of the different growth and demands on indivdiual newfs. :)

oh forgot to add
doesnt surprise me about the proplan at all.
that stuff swells up like huge sponge pieces when soaked in water.
my sampson would puke his meal up nine hours later in whole spongy undigested pieces.

Okay, what do you think of "Transfer Factor" to boost immunity? I've just been looking at it and if it does what it says it can do, it might be worth a try.

I am not familiar with that, but have used and like hokamix
i really have no need to boost the immune system.
the food i feed with bee pollen and the joint health i am doing well.
but, that doesnt mean others might need something different ;0

I would have to disagree on the fish idea for it being not so good for pups...My dog get fish all the time will no ill effects along with hundreds of other raw feeders...
Fish is loaded with lots of omega and good fats, protein etc....

in our breed growth anomoly have happened and continue to happen in the front leg pastern area when teething and going thru the height gaining stage, it is not good for young growing pups, take it from someone with experience and who is responsible for the pups i produce.
of course fish is good, but for adults.
not when going thru the growth period when the diet must be individually met with secific requirements.
having been in this breed since 1986 i have seen and experienced a lot, specific with our breed.

And we are talking fish kibble.
i add makeral and salmon to the kibble of pups and adults all the time.
it is good for them, but, a fish based kibble is not balanced enough to meet the great demands on growth and teething of an adolesent
