: Hubby cooked dinner.....
: lilysmom October 25, 2005, 09:49:21 AM
and I think I'm going to be sick.

Hubby thought he would help by making dinner while I ran a few errands.  I explained to him what to do and he cooked while I was out.  Well, I took one bite and I needed to wash it down with a gallon of water.  I had told him to saute garlic in a little butter and then add the meatballs, (meatball stroganoff).  His dumb butt thought he'd take a shortcut and poured a TON of garlic salt in the butter instead.  I've never added more than a pinch of salt to an entire meal my whole life.  It was like taking a bite into a salt block.  I know he was trying to help, and I tried to be nice about it....but OMG it was awful. :P

Oh, that is the old ploy....he cooks, it tastes awful, so he can't ever cook again!

DON'T fall for it!!! ;D  Make sure he tries again!!  He'll do SOOOO much better next time!  and with lots and lots of practice, he'll get it right!!! ;)

Don't it make you wonder how long they could live with out us to take care of them? Would they starve and were dirty clothes?

I don't even want to get started on what he does to the laundry. lol. ;D  I read an article once in a parenting magazine written from a man's point of vue about the fine nuances of faking it.  "It" being dumb.  And they say men aren't that smart. :D

Let me ask you this...Did you make it through dinner without gagging or did you call for pizza?...lol...I guess I am lucky...Randy knows his way around the kitchen & washer & dryer though I did have to break him of the habit of throwing all colors in one load of wash early on in our marriage...Now, if I could just get him to stop letting the kids get away with breaking the house rules...Then he'd be near perfect! ;D

I made it through dinner, lol.  I just didn't ask for seconds.  He's ok in the kitchen normally if I'm watching him.  I guess I can't leave him alone though.  We've also been through the laundry thing over and over.  I even made a list of what gets washed with what and what temp. and what to add, ie. bleach, oxy powder, etc.  I think he just chooses to be dense sometimes to get out of it.  I'm the type of person that just says, never mind, I'll do it myself. :)

Don't worry, my kids hate me and I do everything for them. :)

I don't have it in me to demand anything from him.  He has enough worries. :)

CAREFUL!!!  There's some semi-domesticated men in here, don't make me get Gourmet on your butts!!!

You are so right, Newf!  Some men are fantastic cooks and are happy in the kitchen!  I'm just not married to THAT man!  He's in the restaurant business and can stand in the kitchen with his hands in the air saying "where's the milk?"  I love him dearly, but that's NOT his forte!  Nor any of my sons'.....nor nephew's......nor brother in law....nor friends' husbands......

Brandon can't cook ... but he makes the best dang sandwhiches in the whole world!  Honestly, they totally rock.  He also has a habit of drying my stretchy clothes to where they're about a 4T, so he's not allowed near the dryer anymore, but he will carry the basket up and down the steps.

He also does ALL the dishes (dishes are soooo gross), never makes me take out the trash, vaccumes WAY more than I do, hangs up the clothes in the big closet (I can't reach the tall bar LOL), mops the tile floors, scrapes the ice, shovels the snow, ALWAYS mows the grass, and carries in all my groceries for me.  So for me, that pretty much leaves cooking and throwing the clothes in the dryer LOL.  I guess I can't complain too much

Wanna trade husbands?   ;D  ;D

This thread is making me laugh!!  Tony's messed up a few meals, but I have too so really it's not a big deal.  He's normally an excellent cook and he loves it too.  Lately even after a long day of working 12-13 hours a day, he'll come home and cook supper for us!  He loves to grill that's his most favorite thing to do and I have to say he does a super job at it!  I'm good at making the "throw together" meals.  I just throw a whole bunch of things together and it actually tastes pretty good, but I've screwed up meals many many times. lol

Mine won't cook, however I have trained him to take me out to dinner. We both win.

Matt is king of the grill.  He makes the most amazing marinades, all from scratch.  He is very confident in his grilling skills and everything he makes is prefaced by "Orgasmic".  "What'd you have for dinner last night?  "We had Orgasmic Burgers".  However grilling is all he's allowed to do in the kitchen.  He set the curtains on fire once, his "Casseroles" amount to putting whatevers in the fridge under lasagna noodles, and it's NOT pretty.

How did y'all end up with these kitchen/laundry challenged people?

I kick to the curb any man who isn't at least as good a cook as I am.  And if he can't wash his own clothes, he can be stinky, because I'm not touching his dirty underwear or his greasy jeans!  And he can keep his paw off MY cold water wash.

Perhaps this is why am still single.  Or maybe it's that I won't let them watch or talk about sports around me.  Or maybe it's my refusal to have video games in my house...

Just call me the Old Maid.  ;D

I came here to tell everyone about my cooking challenged husband because I would never tell him to his face that he doesn't do enough.  He works 24/7 for the Army.  He's always on call, in the field, deployed.  He doesn't have time to worry about anything but the army.  But I knew that when I married him.  I love him even if he causes my eyes to swell from too much sodium or washes my white underthings with a red t-shirt.  He does try.  And I feel bad now for complaining about him, but some things you just have to share with your friends. :)

Men are Grillers!
Stab it , slab it, throw it on the grill!
Baste it, Paste it, make it pallatable!
Ya don't like it, feed it to the dogs, they think we're Gods!
Gotta problem with that?
My dog turns up her nose at "Sissy" salads!
If it ain't got meat, keep it off the street.
What do you think Farley?
The can says Tuna, but don't you think...?

I agree, I'm all about cooking if there is an element of danger involved!  ;D

I do have to admit my husband can cook when he feels like it.  He makes a mean chili.  Unfortunately what he chooses to cook most of the time are dishes that I can't stand.  I usually try to choke down one helping, and then they sit in the fridge until very moldy and he wonders why I'm not eating his cooking.

I can't help it.  I told him after the third time he made pork chops that they're not my favorite thing in the world, and I really only like them how my mom makes them (don't we all.........lo l)  Yet he continues to make them and expect me to eat them.

I guess I shouldn't be complaining about his cooking....... ......he cooks far more than I do.  We usually eat at different times so its every man (and woman) for himself.  But I can complain about everything else.......... lol.  Anything that needs doing in the house both inside and out, I do.  Maybe not well, or that often, but eventually I do it b/c I know he won't.  I don't know where I'm going with this, just thoguht I'd share.   ;D  ;D

Lol this thread makes me chuckle.  Being married to a chef, if I ever have a question about kitchen stuff, I go to him first!  :D  I am a very happy and lucky wife indeed.
