Where can I get the Giant size?
I can find them online for a resonable price then would have to spend another $100 on getting it shipped. I didn't see them at Walmart or Kmart. I'm guessing they are really expensive at PetSmart or other pet stores. I can't find a Tractor Supply in chicago yet.
Where do I go?

I know I've seen them at petsmart but I don't remember the price. Have you tried ebay yet? I bought Sophie's ex-pen off of there, it was a great deal and shipping was reasonable. I'll see if can find the company I'm pretty sure they had all kinds of crates too.

Oh I found the company but they only sell folding and stationary crates not vari kennels... ::) http://stores.ebay.com/For-Happy-Dogs

I live in Chicago too! I bought a giant sized Vari-Kennel off of Craigslist for $55 and just took a cab to go pick it up because I don't have a car. It was a **total** bargain!! Post an ad on Craigslist - I got several responses when I did. And be specific about the measurements.. .most people thing that the large sized kennels are actually giant sized.

I have seen the giant ones at Petsmart here in Nashville for $200. Yowsa!!

I am in Chicago as well. How are you liking the flurries today?
My local dog boutique, Off the Leash, just ordered a 54" colossal crate for me (Midwest style 1154 - black powder coated). The crate will run just over $200 plus they are ordering the crate pad for me. I tried the larger pet stores but they only carried the 42" or 48" crates. I did try Craigslist.org but such no luck. I don't know where you are located in the city but you may want to try a local dog boutique or call the people at OTL (http://www.offtheleashpets.com/). The people that run OTL are just great and special order XXL stuff for Nola all the time.

{sigh} I might have to spring for the Colossal size too...the Giant size doesn't seem like it's going to fit him for too much longer. If he lies down his nose touches the front while his butt *nearly* touches the back of the 48" crate he's in now. GAH! He's so looooooooong!!!!

I have the extra large metal cages already. I am looking for a giant plastic cave like cage for Maia. I think she might do better in night in one of those.
Thank you for all the advice

Try looking on Ebay. I have an Ebay store saved to my favorites called happydogs.com and sometimes they have giant sized crates. The prices are usually pretty good. I'm sure you could find what you need and then some there. Here is the link for the ebay store http://stores.ebay.com/For-Happy-Dogs_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm

We got ours at PetSmart for $179 and that included the pan. Our problem was the size - even broken down in the box it needed the full bed of our Avalanche.
