: How much did your Saint Weigh at 71/2 months
: dufus May 05, 2005, 12:16:31 PM
Hi there,

just wanted to get an idea of how much bigger Day-z might grow to be.  Huge is fine, small is fine, just curious.

At seven and a half months she weighs 85ilbs 9 oz, and was 72lbs at 6 months.

Interested if you guys have any similar data to share.

She is about 25inches tall now.

Thanks

Hi  If i remember right Maggie stopped growing around 1 year..  She did not grow as fast after 7-8 months she slowed down. She was around 110 pound at a year.  She is know around 119 -125.  She will get thinner in the summer months.  Like me fatter in the winter months. ;)

Hi. Im not quite sure of the exact weight at  7 months but I do know he slowed down on his growing around 8 or 9 months. He is about 150lbs now at 13 months. I know a female is usually a bit smaller but was told that he will keep growing till about 2 years.

i don't want to tell you.  either i am a bad mom, or angus is a retarded puppy....but he is nowhere near that weight yet.

he turned 6 months yesterday, and last week at the vet he weighed in at a sad 43lbs.

HE'S NOT A ST BERNARD....HE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ONE, AND HE ISN'T AS BIG AS ONE!

LOOK AT HIM!  i took this is bed this morning.....do esn't look anything like all those other dogs.

on a different note, just so you all know, i am going to steal spotakiss.  shhh, don't tell!

He is small for 6 months but if you put him on Bear's diet of super healthy dog food plus a ton of carbs and junk food he'll fill up fast.  :) And if you need an extra set of hands ....shhhhh.... I'll help you with your Spotakiss plan....we can share him ok?  :D  :D  :D Do you think his mom would notice if we switched him with Bear's bud Wilbur??

which kinda food do you use?  i use nutro, but im switchin, i gotta do some research.  i love to know what others use though.

im also worried to fatten him up because of his hips.  i want the smallest amount of weight on them as possible, but i guess its not good to have a dork of a st either huh!

i dont think she'll notice.  i think she'll be happy.  bears bud is cute too, but it wont be so destructive... ITS PERFECT!  and then i can show angus what a real st looks like!  he'll be so jealous!   :P

Day-z is on Iams Large Breed Puppy, and loves it.

Do you have pictures of his Mum and Dad, maybe they were smaller.

Day-z looks just like her Dad.

She went to doggy day care today with all the small dogs, feedback is that she is really submissive, ah bless...

Good luck

good news about the submissive girl!

my boy is, well, the devil.  he barks at anything and everyone, and his back hair sticks straight up!  today we came up to this nice old lady and a little old hound girl...and angus was standing a foot from this dog just barking and barking and WOULD NOT SHUT UP!  ITS SO EMBARRASING!  he thinks he can take everything, and its really annoying.

we need some major puppy school!  but we are moving and dont know where for sure yet so i dont want to have to pull him out of class.

iams huh?  i'll go read up on it.  your girl is BEAUTIFUL by the way!

Hi there,

am sure there are all sorts of horror stories with Iams, but hey, it is working.

Am not sure i want her to be submissive, but she did really well today.  We took her to basic training, and it was OK for socialising her, but group classes did not really work for us as she was a bit young, and is also a bit lazy so would go into the down position when she was supposed to be running around.  We live in Florida and it was a bit hot for her to run i think.

We had a private trainer for a few weeks, that did little more than stop me going insane with an unhousebroken dog.

Me training her has been the most useful i think.

And, the citronella collar was wonderful, it only had to go off 3 times and non stop barking went away :)

Angus looks like a sweet dog.

Cheers

We have done Eukenuba/Dick van Patten's mix and Innuva but now we use Solid Gold Beef and Barley with the Dick van Patten's meat thing. Bear LOVES it! It is so healthy and has tons of vitamins/supplements in it to help his joints and keep a nice & shiny coat. He's a healthy 160 now and has excellent hips and elbows. Good luck in finding the right food.

Which one are you talking about?  The little one with the black and white face?  He does too look like a St.!  He is adorable.  He actually has very similar markings as my little Seamus.
I've been concerned about my St.'s size too.  He is really tall (like a Great Dane), but thin.  At 11 months he weighs about 115.  He was sick, but i'm sure he is over it now.  I was kind of disappointed that he wasn't growing to be huge, but someone on this chat board mentioned that underweight is good, as it means less hip and joint problems.
Give him time, he'll grow, and if he doesn't, hopefully he'll never have to worry about having to replace his hips.
On the plus side, you won't have to spend as much on food.  AND you won't have to worry about throwing out your back when lifting him up!

when i bought him....even after seeing his pop, i though he would look like mr spotakiss...

but he is tall also, ans scrawny, and yes, is more like a dane than a st.....but i love him anyway....

heres a pic of him, taken the other morning in bed, he is STARTING too look like a st very slowly...just not like the one i thought he would look like.

oh how i love him though.

and yes, smaller weight is better for their joints...

Is he 7 1/2 months now?  Is he clumsy?  I love how when Seamus sleeps his big long legs tangle up.  So sweet.  The really long legs make him look kind of dorky and I love that, like a lenky teenager.
Your pup looks like he has so much personality.  Being different makes him stand out and significant.  He is a beautiful boy!

As i'm sure you've read, we have so many food woes.  I'm so anxious to find a food that keeps weight on him, and keeps his poos solid.  Where do you get Solid Gold?  They don't have it at petsmart.  Do you have to order it?
Bear is such a beautiful dog, I can't get over it.  His coat is so shiney and georgeous!  I'm willing to try anything that makes your dog look like that!  ;)

We got our Saint when he was ten months old and he weighed 110lbs. Now at just shy of two years old he is 180lbs. Those Dane legs will be grown into, Hutch had legs that didn't seem like they would ever stop, but now he has grown right into them! We really worried about his growth too, because of all of the joint problems, so we brought him in for a weigh in on a monthly basis. 180 seems to be the weight that he should finally settle in at.

My 7-month old female Saint weighs 90 pounds -- I am hoping her growth will slow from here on out.

Zoey is a year old now and weighs 100. She has gained an average of 10lbs a month (more when she was younger, less now), so at 7 1/2 months, she was probably about 75lbs. We have been trying to get her to grow slowly (by giving her adult formula since the begining, and making sure she isn't eating too much) because of her hips - the way the vet explains it, she will still end up at the same final weight (we expect about 150 based on her mom's weight), but the longer she takes the go there, the better her hips will form and reduce the effects of her hip dysplacia for her whole life...

As for food, I actually just switched her off of Solid Gold. She was on Solid Gold Wolf King from for the past 6 months, and I was really happy with it for a long time (her coat was wonderful and she was healthy and happy) - it's really expensive, but I don't mind spending extra for my baby's health. Anyways, lately I have became less and less happy with it - every time I went to the pet store to buy it, I would have to buy the more expensive smaller bags or special order the large one (obviously you don't want to buy tiny bags of large breed "Wolfking"), and more importantly, Zoey's stool seemed to get softer and softer by the day until it was practically all diahrea. So now I am in the process of transitioning her to a brand called Wellness by a company called Old Mother Hubbard. It has all human-grade ingredients, lots of meat, good grain sources, and plenty of fruits, veggies, vitamins, and minerals. She is still in the adjustment stage so I can't review it yet, but I feel good about it so far.

I dont own a Saint but I do own a Central Asian Ovcharka and he at 7.5 months weighs 101 lbs and around 28.5" or 29" at the shouler.  he should be the same size as a adult male saint.  You can hear a lot of people talking about how large there dog is but the the other dog could be overweight.  My dog gets a raw diet and eats 1.75 lbs or raw meaty bones a day and i try not to feed him cookies either

As long as your dog is healthy, that is all that matters...a skinny large breed is a healthy large breed

Good Luck with your beautiful looking saint!

Max was 76.3 lbs at 21 weeks.  Couldn't weigh him after that.  My Saint Bernard Weight Chart says at 7 months a Male is 101 and a female is 96.5 lbs.  These are averages and I find they are conservative.  Maxwell is now two weeks away from his first birthday and he's about 150 or so.

Day-z was 1 yesterday, so today we went to the vets for her annual check up and a weigh in.

He asked me how much i thought she weighed and i guessed 120lbs, he said he thought she was more.

Well, turns out she weighed in at a mere 103lbs.  I don't believe the scales, she is a proper big dog.  The vet said we will weigh her again next month.......

I wish i had the same problem.....

Ah well

Molly wieghted 21 lbs 6 oz last week and was 12 1/2 weeks old. I can tell you tomorrow night how much she gained in a week because she has another vet appoint meet. She is eating Pro Plan Giant Breed puppy dry and wet althought after the can food is gone she will eat reg. pro plan can. She also gets yogart or cottage cheese 2 to 3 times a week. Our other dogs eat Pro Plan Turkey and barley and wet food.

Bubba is 7 1/2 months now and he weighs 100 pounds even. So that weight chart does seem to be somewhat accurate.
