: Phillips January 03, 2006, 07:45:15 PM
Hello,

I know I have not been around much but life is so busy right now. ANYWHOO I have a new baby his name is Brutis. Brutis is a male boxer that we got from chris's family's friend. He had to male boxers and they fight all the time and he called and asked if we wanted him and so here he is.

Brutis is a great name for a Boxer! He is very handsome too. How are he and Dixie getting along?

My aunt got a hand-me-down Outside Dog once that she "reverse" trained.

She kept an eye on him in the run outside the window, and when she saw him do his business, she would jump up and call him in the house to play and be loved on and given treats.  At first, he only stayed in the house for an hour; gradually she stretched they time, until he was in most of the time.  He never did learn to ask out, though; she put him out at very specific times, and he knew he couldn't come in until he'd gone!

Thank you everyone. Brutis is the sweetest thing. It sounds like a gladiators name or something.

I just crate trained my two boxers for the first time at 2 years and 4 months old and 1 and 9 months old.  I was sort of nervous about it at first, but they quickly came to like being in the crate while I'm at work.  Now, when I'm home and I leave the doors open, they go in there and sleep (I put some really comfy beds in there).

So if you are worried about crate training an adult dog, no worries. Once I figured out Maggie had to have a 35 minute walk in the morning (to do both) before I put them in the crates, we were good to go.

Hope that helped.

That reminds me of the Disney movie "The Ugly Dachsund" where he took home the Grt Dane pup and nursed him on the wifes Dachsund (sp?). He grew up thinking he was one! ...his name was Brutus!  I love that name!   :)
