I like to quilt.  Here is one I made for my husband while we were dating.

and here is one I made for my MIL's birthday
(http://www.quiltzilla.com/attachments/RachelTworek/ok1.jpg)

I also Bellydance but I don't have an digital pictures of that.  I've been dancing on and off for about 8 years.  I've done many performances and even danced at the Maryland Renissance Festival but that was a little while ago.  I really hope to get back into performing soon it is such a blast and maybe even teaching.  Right now I'm just dancing for fun.

Oh yeah I also play the piano.  I've been playing since I was 4.  I have just started teaching a very rambuctious 6 year old boy and hope to grow my studio.  The piano is probably my biggest passion.

So there ya go those are my most interesting hobbies.

My hobby is horseback riding.  I've been riding since I was 6 mos old and have been doing it ever since.  I also love to hike and bike.  And someday I'd like to go to a car racing school thing, racing is in my blood.
Here's some pics of me and the girls....Gabby is the first one and Penney is the second....Hope fully I can steal some hiking photos off my brothers camera this weekend.

I scrapbbook like a fiend!  I love it!  I have completed atleast 15 albums in the last 5 years that I have been scrapbooking.  Wedding ones, baby, childhood, family, etc.  I'm working on one from our trip to Disney World this past October and I am also working on my sisters childhood album after receiving tons of pictures from my mother of myself, my brother, and my sister-what a mess to go through.  It was really difficult trying to figure out what pictures were with what years and what event....plus I had to make copies of a bunch of photos for each of us to have.  I finished my brothers already and mine will be worked on later, and my sisters is almost done.

I also garden and can what I grow.  I make tons of jam each year and need to make more with all the fruit I have in the freezer right now from summer pickings.

I also cross-stitch when I get the chance to actually sit down and do nothing for a little while....which isn't very often!

Well mostly I study, lol, I feel like I will never get out of college sometimes! I also spend my summers working at an all girls underprivledge d youth camp. I am the horseback riding director there, it is my home away from home. I love photography, but my camera is on the outs right now, and I can't seem to get ay good pictures. I love to ski and snowboard, but here in Alabama, that is not quite possible. here are some pics from summer camp.... Oh yea, I am also a licensed NY and PA (soon to be AL also) barber. I have been doing hair for 7 years now, sometimes I love it, sometimes I don't! I'll try to upload some pics of things I have done...

Non dog hobbies?  Whatever do you mean?  Why would I be doing anything non dog related?   ::)  ::)

Well, since my life revolves around dogs (training/walking/pet sitting) and computer dog groups, that doesn't leave much time for a life.  But when I do get off my butt and do something different, it's not all that interesting... .........lol.

I used to ride horse, but I haven't in years.  I co-own one with my mom.  Her name is Pepper, she lives at my mom's and she is a PITA!!, although from what my mom says, she is much better than when I used to ride her.

I also play softball.  Used to play volleyball both sand and court, but haven't found team out here.  Basically, I like any and all sports, and would play more if I could find some teams to play on.  I read when I can, and would like to learn how to sew.  And I collect anything and everything: coins, figurines, books, fast food kid's meal toys, etc.  I like to take pictures, but I'm not real artsy about it.  I also rollerblade (although I need a new brake)

Oh, here is a pic of my Pepper, although it is an old pic.  She is almost white, now.

GOOOO GATORS!  HA HA ;D

I also ride horses.  I have one waiting to be finished up if I could ever find a saddle to fit the tank.  His shoulders are quite bulky and wide so that's been a challenge to fit him.

I too like photography, but I'm not too good at it most of the time.  I finally got a digital camera so I wouldn't waste so much money on film to get that one good shot, and leaving all the other pics in the garbage!  I love my digi now!

Rachel, where did you find that *amazing* fabric in the middle of your hubby's quilt?

It is a batik panel of a japanese print and I found it at a little quilting store outside of Baltimore called Seminole Sampler (http://www.seminolesampler.com/index.html ).

If your looking for fun fabrics  www.keepsakequ ilting.com is amazing!!  They also send out a beautiful catalog.  Its definitely worth getting.

Ever try to balance a pallette, cleaning supplies, brushes, etc on top of a constantly moving dog head and/or body that thinks it has to ALWAYS be attached to you??? hahaha No, really, I  just havent been in the mood to do another one for a while, but I'm going to paint a small painting and frame it for a friend for a birthday gift next week. Thanks for the compliment---made my day! :D

And...since you mention it...I juggle 100 things at once all the time with Grace up my butt.  It takes practice but is possible.  :)   I have never been married to a man who can actually get off the couch and get or do anything for himself (not that there isn't one like that out there) so I've perfected the constantly busy, multi-tasking self.  :)

Oh, my God, I'm horrifying!

I don't craft unless forced.  I can barely thread the sewing machine, and would rather Heat & Bond a hem than sew it--that's how I made my last set of curtains, too.  The only baby things I make (mostly under threat of mother-nuclear war) are those comforter type ones that have a nursery print on each side and a batt in the middle.  I tie them with yarn, rather than quilting them like a civilized person.  The only kind of paint brush I pick up is a roller.

I am in total awe of you people's patience to do this stuff.

I haven't directed a play in years, and I've given up the church choir.  What the heck DO I do??

Let's see...I'm a total biblio-addict.  A book a day at least--sometimes two, depending on what I pick up.  (This means I've got several thousand books library-boxed in my garage.  And a couple hundred that need to be reboxed or integrated into my library boxes, which means that I need to get a couple dozen boxes.  If I had a house the size of my parents', I wouldn't have room enough to put all the books on shelves, never mind all the new ones I keep buying.  I'm hopeless.)

I'm usually working on pieces a book.  No, you can't see any of it.  It's PIECES, I told you.  I've started 4 or 5 and never finished one, and you can't see those either.  If I thought they were worth looking at, I wouldn't have quit working on them!  They're just for me.

DISNEYLAND!  Most often, it's to meet friends who're on vacation. (Sometimes it's Universal Studios.  I draw the line at Magic Mountain, though.)  I'd much rather meet them at the Park, hang for a while standing in line for Space Mountain, etc.,  or holding a spot for the fireworks than have to cook them dinner before they come over, make a big mess in my too tiny kitchen, eat on TV trays because my table is too small, and then chase them out the door before having to clean my kitchen before I have to get half a night's sleep before I go to work.  Disneyland does all the cooking, cleaning, etc., and I can just enjoy my friends, and have an excuse to go home to bed at a more reasonable hour.

I CAN cook.  I just don't love to in my tiny kitchen.  But my mustard potato salad and my Jaw-Breaking Lemon Chicken are legendary, and my fried chicken and my turkey dinner are not far behind.

Oh, here's what I do!  I get rid of dysfunctional people.  I love to do this!

I'm quite good at telling in a very short time when an SO is a useless lump, and finding subtle little ways to encourage my friend to rid themselves of said albatross.  I'm responsible for the dumping of at least 40 albatrosi--though probably half of the albatrosi were attached to Kathy.  ::)  But I refuse to give up MY friends because they can't make decent choices about life mates.  ;)   The 2 divorces I'm take partial credit for would not have been marriages if I'd known my friend before he/she got married to begin with-ugly, ugly stories, and both times all I could do was wonder what were their families THINKING??  Were they blind, or just stupid?

I guess an albatross would call me a low-down meddling cow--if they were being circumspect about it.  I'll plead guilty as charged.   :-*

This doesn't take up nearly as much of my time as it used to, as the majority of my friends are now married/committed to really nice--and some of them even really cool--people.  (That's where I get the kids to play with, so it's not like its all altruistic or anything. Don't get the wrong idea.  :D)

Hmmm...It's easier saying what I'm not into.  Of course my chickens, pheasants and goats.  I paint and sew but I don't like anything with directions and tend to do my own thing rahter than follow the instructions.. ..makes for some cool stuff sometimes.  I coach cheerleading in season.  Garden...veggi es, flowers, and herbs.  Beading.  Embroidery.  Crochet.   I never, ever bake...and if you ever catch me doing so, call the nearest psych ward cause I'm contemplating suicide.  I work on computers, fixing them.  I'm a voracious reader in subjects that I like and can easily read 4 or 5 books at the same time.  I love woodworking but haven't done it in a long time.  I'm an excellent co-dependant and take on all of my friends problems.  And I do volunteer work and am starting a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.  I think that's all of the hobbies....

I have dabbled in wide range of hobbies for awhile.  I paint in oil sometimes.  I have tried to quilt but my first quilt still isn't finished.  I cross stitch but nothing recently.  I also scuba dive when I get a chance.  But I think I have found my niche in hobbies.  I am a self proclaimed margarita taster.  I will taste test any and all margaritas.  I am also a great enabler for all my friends and I am the instigator for my friends.   I think instigation is my favorite hobby along with margarita tasting.  When I mix the two then the day is perfect.

I think I have found my niche in hobbies.  I am a self proclaimed margarita taster.  I will taste test any and all margaritas.

After that admission, I think you would appreciate this Margarita recipe, it's an old Fraternity recipe and everyone raves about how good it is.

Ingredients:
1 can of Limeade
Tequila
Triple Sec
Beer (preferrably Corona but any Pilsner or light colored beer will suffice)
Ice

Scoop 1/2 the can of Limeade into the blender and put the other 1/2 into a container and save for the next batch of Margaritas.  Using the limeade can as a measuring device, pour the following amounts of the other ingredients into the blender:

1/2 can of Tequila
1/4 can of Triple Sec
1/2 can of Beer

Once that is all in, begin putting in the ice.  Keep putting ice in until it no longer sinks under the liquid and begins to pile up on the surface.  Cover and blend, starting slow and going all the way up.  It should be a perfect, Slurpee like consistency.  If it's not, keep it blending, open up that little opening in the lid and drop individual ice cubes in until it hits that perfect consistency.  Pour into salted (or not) glasses and be humble as the people begin showering you with raves and compliments!  It may take a few tries to get it perfect, but it's worth the effort.  You can't taste any of the alcohol in it!

Well....I really enjoy my boat in the summer time. There is nothing that makes me happier than loading my big hairy guy (Cabeza, not Mark!) and my super cool kid and the boyfriend into the boat, packing a lovely picnic and a nice bottle of wine, and heading out to Lake Michigan for the day.

Lake Michigan itself may be considered one of my hobbies. Can you say that? Lake Michigan is a hobby? Seriously, I go there rain or snow, summer or winter, and I obsess over its health and the quality of the water, shorebirds, etc. I've spent two summers working on e.coli issues at the Lake and I'm sure its where I'll end up working professionally . I love that dang Lake!

Hmm...I also enjoy maps and geography. I like to make maps, look at maps, talk about maps...

I absolutely LOVE to cook. My mom and my daughter and I will spend an entire week planning what we are going to cook on Saturday, and then we all get together and make it on Saturday nights. Its a wonderful weekend. Each one of us pick out a particular recipe or dish, and we all make the one we chose. (My 12 year old can cook Emeril under the table)

Someone else mentioned entertaining as a hobby, and I totally agree that is a hobby!!!! In the summer time, dinner parties are a twice weekly occurance at our house.

I also enjoy riding my bike, hiking, camping and reading a good book.

I love seadooing in the summer. We goto  a river close to us and spend the day there. I can't wait to take Farley this year. Lexi loves going on the seadoo. She always wants to go faster--lil speed demon ;)

I am always up for a good book. I don't get to read as much as I use to though.

I goto the gym 3-4 times a week. I get grumpy if I don't get to go there ;)

Walking along the Niagara Parkway is beautiful.

Thats it for me, I dont do much that doesnt include my family or the dogs lol

I sing bawdy drinking songs and play dress up. *lol* I'm 1/3 of an Accapella singing group. We travel all over the country performing at events, fairs, even business conventions. Here's our website: www.getwycked.org (http://www.getwycked.org) It's real fun, and my whole family gets to be involved.

I also sew all of the costumes that I wear, so I guess that's a hobby too.

: Re: Non-dog Hobbies
: newflvr January 26, 2006, 02:31:04 PM
I hardly ever have as much fun without the dogs, but I do TRY (sort of,kind of ::) to have a non-dog life for very short periods of time).   I've always enjoyed traveling but after we had kids, it was more difficult.  We did drag them to lots of different places all over the country and to Canada, England and Italy.  Doncha know they don't remember hardly any of our adventures...s igh!!!

Darling husband and I try to get a trip in every anniversary... this year's a big one since it's the 30th.  We're going to Prague and Budapest and then back to Boston for the middle son's college graduation.  We haven't done a big trip for a number of years (well, to be totally honest, since we had Newfies)  but I do think it's important to connect without kids and animals from time to time.

All my other hobbies have the Newfs right there.  Cooking?  Newfs in the kitchen cleaning up any "spills".  Entertaining?  Newfs in the dining room....cleani ng up any "spills".  Gardening?  Newfs laying in the shade somewhere nearby.  Reading?  Newfs laying on my feet.  Road trips?  Newfs in the back of the car.   They are most excellent at going in to the handicapped stalls with me at the rest stops!! ;D ;D

Thanks! *lol* HUbby and I also do live-steel combat demonstrations . That's me kickin' his petard in the ring in that last pic.

We're basically a comedy act that sings, so we all know stage combat (for fight scenes in the act) in various forms as well as other individual specialization s. It's good fun, and I love that we just basically pack up all the kids in the summer and travel all over the place. The kids have a blast, and we even get to take the dogs sometimes. (depending on the rules of the event.)

: Re: Non-dog Hobbies
: Leah-n-boy-os January 26, 2006, 02:50:06 PM
I love history, so I started going to a lot of Rensaissance Faires. I ended up signing up in a Guild to be a Noble in the Royal COurt. I started hanging out with one of the girls in the guild and we went to a singing class together. We both are really good at parody and decided to re-write the words to some of the songs we were learning.

That turned out so well that we decided to try and form a group. We had no idea it would get as big as it has. :o We now have two CD's released, and are working on our third.

Thanks for being judgemental.  There's a fine line between enjoying your dog and being obsessed.  I think it's fair to say that about everyone here on BPO spends more time with their dog than the average person, these aren't neglected dogs by any means.  Instead of a-huntin' and a-shootin' all the time, you should work on your spelling.  It's H-E-R-E-S-Y.  Just an FYI fer ya, in case you decide to throw around any more big words.  ;)

I agree that none of our dogs are neglected.  Most of the hobbies I have include the dogs.  If I'm doing my crosstitch I have a dog on each hip and a head or two on my lap.  They don't mind a little time without being attached to me either.   If I'm not at work I'm home with the babies.  They hardly want for attention. :)

I think Mark was being facetious...   :)  That is how I read it, anyway...
