;D Dog's 24-strong litter 'a record'Â
Each pup is thought to be worth about £1,000 eachÂ
A mastiff dog is set to break a world record after giving birth to a litter of 24 puppies.
Breeders Damian Ward and his girlfriend Anne Kellegher, from Manea, Cambs, had only been expecting two-year-old Tia to give birth to 10.
Unfortunately, four of the pups have now died, but the remaining pups - which are now seven weeks old - are thought to be worth about £1,000 each.
A Guinness World Records spokesman said the current record stands at 23.
Mr Ward said: "She certainly surprised us. When she went in for the caesarean I thought we would lose her and the pups.Â
Tia was bred with Caesar, who belongs to Ms Kellegher's sister
"I was in shock for about two weeks. I was just a feeding robot."
When fully grown the dogs will stand more than 2ft tall and weigh up to 13 stones.
Tia's achievement is now likely to set two new records in the Guinness World Records - that of the biggest litter and that of the most surviving puppies.
Guinness World Records spokesman Sam Knight said: "The current record is 23 so we will be making contact with the owners.
"If it is true that the dog has given birth to 24 puppies than it will be a new world record."

HOLY COW!! That's alot of puppies. I hope they are all healthy. It sounds like they are doing well, although I feel for the owners since they will obviously have to hand feed at least half of them.

In the words of frank barone "Holy Crap!" ;D

Wow that is down right amazing!
I dont think I would want to be in their shoes! That sounds like a big job.

that is sad that some died, but 20 pups is ALOT TO HANDLE!!! i could hardly handle 2! what type of Mastiff were they again? English? tebetan (my spelling sucks)? Neopolatan (my former comment still stands!)? they look adorable, but pics do no justice, and i don't exactly consider myself a mastiff expert!
I think the're gonna need a bigger house.

mmmmmmm...24.. ..quite a litter!
hope they find owners for the 20 pups really soon cos' they'll eat out the house :P
now, really, I can only guess incredibly huge costs for so many pups, not to speak about the effort of cleaning up and everyth else
on the other hand, I guess they're really proud of beating the record
hope mom is doing fine, she must be really tired and weak after this "experience"

Erm... those are NOT English Mastiff puppies! They're definitely Neapolitan Mastiffs judging from the colour.
Still, 24 with 20 live ones - They're going to need £1000 a pup to put right the havoc and damage 20 huge puppies are going to cause by the time they are ready to go to new homes. I can't even imagie the food bill. ;D

I have to agree with Senghe, by the color of the pics, they do not look like English. Being almost all black, very rare unless the brindle striping is not photographed in the pic. Sorry to hear that you have lost 4 pups. That is a tragedy. The others look very very nice. I do hope you have a large yard and home.Â
