Thank you girls!!  That was some great information!  Now I feel like we can make an informed decision.  We have been reading up on the breed, but it's always best to get information from someone who has owned one!  We have a basset hound right now, and I must admit, I didn't know that much about the breed (only what I read in one book) about the breed.  While he is very lovable, he took some work!!  Thanks again!!

Can anyone tell more more about this breeds personality.  My husband is dead set on getting one but I have read they can be very territorial and wary of strangers.  I grew up with a dog like that, and while he LOVED our family, having visitors was always a little anxious.  Please tell me honestly what to expect from the breed.  We want to get a dog that is the perfect fit for our family...Thank s!!
